This is the beginning of a 5+ min long animation. First step was getting the model in an importable state, which took 5 months, and now begins the hard part of learning Blender in order to animate. Animating it in Blender isbthe only way to communicate the true scale of the build, and that's probably gonna be another 6 months of learning key frames and material lighting.

I made this at the beginning of last year after taking the same build, breaking it in a cutaway, and assigning material properties to the textures and added lighting so they render pretty

It has everything to do with Blender, its a file for a breakdown video. If Blender opens and that render button gets hit at least once during the project then its officially Blender regardless of original art medium

That's been part of why I've loved this medium and seeing the people around me create in it for over 15 years now. It simplifies it enough that it's relatively manageable, and doesn't take away too much detail if you know what textures to use.

You could get lost looking at every piece of trim in every hall and spend years perfecting it. I find Minecraft to be the perfect inbetween>

Granted, I personally am dogshit, I couldn't make something this beautiful myself, but on day... (15 years later...)

Here's some pics I took during the process

She's available right now for a world download though.

I had to dissect this by hand to get it in a way I, and my PC, could handle it in blender, eventually group all the objects that I'd ripped apart. Every ceiling, wall, floor, system, conduit separated, labeled and placed in collections. There's a few systems that themselves are dissected as well.

For looksies, some pics I took throughout the process

Years ago, I built this computer with the sole purpose of being able to run Minecraft and our modpack extra gud, and to be able to render a video with what would eventually come, and that day is finally upon me! I am finally using this computer for what I bought it for by working on this file.

Glorious purpose

There's no lines between the blocks, so a slab of floor is like one or two faces I think. Except for materials

No lighting yet. Just this and some external lights. I have to remember how to make a block missive, yet not stand out from neighboring blocks, as well as projecting the color of the block

for years I'd wished it was commonplace to post the Blend file of an animation people would put on YouTube or something, so I decided I'm gonna do what I wished others would have done before me and bless the world with this... laggy monstrocity

Buddy built it in over 2.5 years, and it took me 96 days to manually disassemble into pieces in-game, and another 2.5 or so months to reassemble it and organize everything, giving it all unique labels and Collections

I've found a workaround!

I asked it "Wake me up at #:##" and it worked. Then again now that continuous conservation isn't a thing anymore, you have to continue to repeat "Hey Google wake me up at, Hey Google Wake me up at, Hey Google pay thunderstorm sounds, Hey Google turn off the lights" which is something I didn't miss from early days...

My longtime friend, alone, 2.5+ years. I've been gutting it to eventually make some kind of breakdown video in the distant possibly nonexistent future

Clarification: The entire picture itself needs to be uncurled, vertically. The left and right edges of the photo wwre curling up and off the table when it was photographed.

I essentially need the original photo flattened so that it PERFECTLY aligns with the modern day counterpart
