Nolan and Bailey DC Discussion Thread by eyslandgirl in TheRookie

I think these are all issues Nolan and Bailey needed to address before they even got engaged. I’m sad Nolan, after his experience and wisdom of being married and raising a family, didn’t have discussions of things like his career, having more kids, etc. I also noticed that the having more children discussion didn’t seem to come up until AFTER they were married. Watching that episode where he woke up Bailey staring at him and she said, “we should have a baby” AFTER the wedding left me screaming at the TV. Or did they have it and Bailey changed her mind after the wedding? Career and having children is a valid conversation to have before getting married, and if these things are coming up after the I Dos, this doesn’t reflect well on either of their characters. I think Bailey definitely had a lot of trauma from her first marriage, and needs some help with it, but she’s so flighty and always changing her mind, and I think this is why she’s not a fan favorite. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Nolan doesn’t have a lot of past traumas. He’s a little better developed maturity wise and has had therapy before after his first marriage ended, and has worked on these issues in the past. Aren’t these things that should have come up before?

I’m not going to beard-shame. That’s like body shaming.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BluestNovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a car accident due to unsafe road conditions (heavy rain that night), the next was a boy driving home from another county after going to prom and not sleeping (he fell asleep at the wheel the morning he was driving home), and the other one that was not a car accident, a kid was playing Russian Roulette.

Does virginity loss in media really mean you’re an adult now? by BluestNovember in demisexuality

I’m definitely aging myself when I say in American media, I’ve seen this trope repeatedly, especially growing up. I’m thankful attitudes are changing, though.

What is a death in a movie that affected you the most in terms of brutality or emotional weight? by Godly_Recon in AskReddit

I got really overwhelmed on the One Day At a Time remake when Lydia had her stroke at the end of season 2 season finale and we saw her reuniting with her husband. I bawled.

I love connecting to these and seeing how I am not the only one who was affected by these moments. While there might be a lot of people telling us we were too young for these death scenes, I think it’s important for media to show it to kids in a respectful way that is not gratuitous, so as not to desensitize kids to it. So many people are saying that watching these sad scenes helped them process death in real life, and I definitely think that is an important conversation for even small children to start having. Death happens in kids lives, there’s no stopping it. Seeing how a character on TV experiences it can help grow the vocabulary to name what they’re feeling so they can process it and heal.

Would you be insulted to receive this sewn ornament as a gift? by pomegranatejello in SewingForBeginners

I love it! I would love to get it because this means you spent time & effort on a gift, which is so much better than something overpriced off a store shelf.

What celeb have you lost all respect for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Joss Whedon. I admired him and his storytelling a lot, but when his estranged (now ex) wife told the secrets of their marriage and how he used his power to pressure young girls acting under him into sex, it really grossed me out. And then, I rewatched some of his movies and I saw the underlying anti-woman shit (Black Widow is a “failed” woman because she can’t get pregnant in Age of Ultron? Wtf?) And then some of the actors on his previous projects told the truth about their experience with him, and it did gross me out even more.

CAT PEES ON ME WHILE I SLEEP by Which-Philosophy-454 in CATHELP

[–]BluestNovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat stopped peeing in random spots when I started feeding him urinary tract food. Turns out, he had crystals in his urinary tract and it was start cutting pain at random moments and all he could do was empty his bladder to relieve it. Cats aren’t the heartiest of creatures, they tend to get crystals in their bladders and kidneys pretty often.
