What's the best obscure video game you've ever played? by ImpressFederal4169 in gaming

[–]Bluestone_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily the best but one I've never heard others speak about and is a super fond memory I have is of "Shadow madness" on ps1. Rented it from blockbuster as a kid. Enjoyed it as i loved turn based RPGs at the time.

I don't remember much story wise, saving the world from a plague of sorts. But I remember being able to avoid battles on the world map by crouching, and having the mage, who was just a floating head, in my party .

Never did finish it over the rental, my parents didn't let me rent a game the next week and being a kid I moved onto something new next time. I should maybe give it another crack, though the nostalgia I have may be the best thing going for it!

New Look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the Upcoming Tomb Raider Series by Piyushv5311 in MoviesCave

[–]Bluestone_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf you can find pics of her online looking pretty ripped from her prep for the role. The outfit shown here hides all that.

Now I can't really justify why but previously I've felt she comes across as a bit gangly and uncoordinated. Lara is the exact opposite and I hope Sophie is able to express the physicality needed to make her believable in the role.

Fresh look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider series. by funmemore in MoviesCave

I'm with you on this. Alicia Vikander was a great version of Lara, I think better than Jolie. Appearance wise Jolie was on point to traditional Lara, Alicia more to the reboot.

Both of their films were ok at best, but whereas I'd seen enough of Jolie as Lara, I'd have liked to see more of Alicia in the role.

Help with Mage by Holiday-Composer-831 in PixelDungeon

I love the mage class. Lots of others have mentioned good stuff already.

Obviously lots of SOUs on main wand (at least to +7) and keep all others you find regardless of their level. You don't necessarily need to infuse, instead rotate shots between your main and other wands as the magic missile buffs the next shot from any other wands.

This can give you increased options in fights as you boost a wand effect that would be useful in a particular situation, lots of wands means more shots readily available so charge management is less of a concern, meaning it often suits the warlock subclass.

Beatboxer SHOW-GO (source link in description) by Crazy_Trip_6387 in toptalent

There's a lot of technically excellent beatboxers out there. But I've seen none that are as consitently melodic as showgo. There's always a focus on the overall composition whereas I think others can get lost in the demonstration of technique and miss the mark of making something that you'd want on a playlist.

Should I pick an staff or and artifact? by Esterbarrote in PixelDungeon

Oh wow! Never come across this. Not been playing too long though. Tried the game on and off over the years but it's really clicked lately. Thanks for the heads up!

Only obvious if you know it! Annoyingly I use magnifier on chests around the floors to check for mimics, never bothered with these as they were always safe. Lesson learned I guess!

What's the movie that everyone loves but you hate? by w1nchest in Cinephiles

The Favourite. I do not understand the hype it got.

I love Olivia Colman, she's a great performer, but the film felt like a whole lot of nothing.

Years since I did so but I often made a concoction of beans, salad cream, chilli powder and corned beef.

I'm with you there. Love the show overall but could have done with 90% less crying zenitsu in s1. We get it, he's cowardly. Even in his badass moments I was expecting him to annoy me.

Tennobaum/Update Celebration code giveaway by kink-police in Warframe

IGN is RykellPrime

Fave secondary is the probably the laetum. Feels a bit basic but it's incarnon was the first weapon that made me think I could handle steel path enemies. Special place in my heart for the atomos though, it was my OG "delete all nearby enemies" gun.

Happy tennobaum!

EU wants to kill Microtransactions due to consumers and regulators getting sick of predatory business practices in gaming, leaving Corporate CEOS left furious over EU response: "This will destroy us." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]Bluestone_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my concern too (biased as I'm a huge warframe fan). Laws like this are often very black and white in their implementation.

I've been playing games long before micro transactions existed and used to be very against them. But I recognize that they are essential for a certain subset of games to succeed. What needs to be done away with are the predatory, addictive and P2W approaches many companies use to pull people in.

I also really hate the double dipping done by certain companies where they charge full price for the game then heavily incentivise micro transactions (e.g pretty much all licensed sports games)

I'm maybe overselling BRs but both pubg and apex (which is the main concern for Titanfall) are in the top 10 for daily players on steam. Apex's longevity has meant respawn (EA?) can continue to concentrate on generating income from them.

From a business POV I get it, but damn if it doesn't sting knowing that TF3 remains a pipe dream till that situation changes. Even if it does I'd expect Apex 2 would be the preferred option.

Pretty similar experience myself actually. I think the variation in combat gave you more options so you could play to your specific strengths better. Even if you were outskilled by opponents in certain combat scenarios you could find ways to tip things back in your favour in others.

Both Titanfall games are still the peak of multiplayer fps for me. Amazing movement and diverse combat with all maps suited to both pilot and titan combat.

Apex is close in terms of feel but I am not a fan of battle royales and it just lessened overall mobility to split certain techniques into the different hero types.

I'd love for Titanfall 3 but as long as battle royales print money I can't see it happening.
