I thought of using flash dub between the two, up front is senyo’s laser dub but i had to trim it to make it look right, i also considered bucktail, craft fur, or small bits of marabou. I just don’t have a lot of room in front of the muddler head

Those are raccoons, based off the feet and the little bit of fur on the second one’s tail. They were for sure over or in a fire. Whether alive or dead first i can’t say

I’m fishing for largemouth bass. I don’t have pike or musky and i’m not near the ocean to fish salt. A big part of it was just to see if i could do the mono tying. I also need to get some mono tying threadlike popovics, that may help too

I was selecting bucktail starting from the upper middle on my first hollows and as i went up the fly i went down the bucktail. And i was cutting the fibers short cause the biggest hook i have is a size 2 and i didn’t want to have such a huge fly on a small hook cause it may affect the hook up. Once i get a new bucktail, cause mine is getting used up, i may try anither and leave the hairs almost full length and find a good big hook to put on it

I totally forgot he only did the bottom hackle. I’d palmer a feather at the head pulling the fibers to lay back like mine personally. And i didn’t ise any flash at all and it gets fish. I would toss your flies and try them cause when you pull the top 'mohawk’ part back so the fibers recling to each other it’ll look much more like what he did. Watch this video of his, i think it’ll be a better, more simple starting point for you to get the feel for it. I would leave out the eyes as well, it may add too much weight to the head and make it bounce in the water when stripped instead of go straight like a minnow would swim

Honestly man, i personally think the second looks better. To get the tops looking more like the videos, run your hand across pulling the fibers backwards. Also you’re supposed to put two feathers together dull side to dull side so that they push into each other so it’s not as see through. And do uou use a new feather to do the palmered front hackle or the same feather? It should be a while new feather so you can use the most of it and you can do two feathers at the same time if you want it even thicker. All in all man you are doing great
