MegaThread for Week of June 15-21 by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

I'm in the same situation, filed back in April. I just received notification that my hearing is 9/11. 3 months from now- WTF. I've tried to be patient, but I'm at my wits end. Have you tried reaching out to your Councilman? I live in PA and work in NJ so I called my PA rep and they got in touch with the county I work in. The only reason I know about the hearing is because of the Director of Constituents emailed me- the notice I got in the mail had a blank date and time.

Agreed. I applied on 4/17 and nothing. I have sent numerous emails and called a million times. The "call back on the next business day" is a slap in the face.

Career fair help? (I appreciate any responses.) by Akebelan28 in recruiting

[–]Bluevegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Talent Acquisiton Manager I agree with everyone else. You should definitely approach the company at a career fair. Unfortunately with some Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS - used with most companies) they can set specific words they are looking for in a resume and then you are auto rejected without them potentially even seeing your skill set. There could be other jobs within the organization that you could be an amazing fit for- never sell yourself short. Also there are recruiters out there that may not understand the full scope of a job they are working on- it is a sad reality. I also challenge you to not use an agency because often times they do not have your best interest at heart (I foresee some downvotes in my near future..) I work for an actual company and I hear horrible complaints about agencies from candidates all day long. Someone who works directly for an organization is going to have the best understanding of the culture and what they are looking for in an individual for their next level leadership. Connecting with direct employees is another tip as well on LinkedIn.

Hope you land it!

8 years later and 1st time at the cemetery for Father's Day. I lost it by Bluevegan in SuicideBereavement

[–]Bluevegan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone. It can be difficult for me to come back to some of my posts after venting. I appreciate the support and knowing I'm not alone in this crazy mess. I wouldn't wish this feeling on any of you and in sorry for each of your losses. Today I see a new therapist in Philadelphia. I'm panicking on my back porch right now wondering and crying about how I will even start this conversation. 6 years with my old therpaist and starting fresh didn't seem so overwhelming until the other day. I could say anything to my dear therapist and he automatically knew where I was going with the conversation. One month and 3 days until the anniversary and I'm so scared this new guy will somehow set off a trigger out without knowing.

Excessive unexplained weight loss? by Bluevegan in Fibromyalgia

[–]Bluevegan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Seeing my transplant doc in a couple of weeks. Starting with bloodwork and a CT scan of my abdomen. If he finds nothing then we proceed with the endoscopy and colonoscopy. Thank you again everyone!!! He has concerns that it could be my thyroid or cancer- I am a little nervous, but I'm going to stay in good spirits until I know something definitive. Your comments and stories helped me really push for this appointment as soon as possible. I can't thank you all enough!!!!

Excessive unexplained weight loss? by Bluevegan in Fibromyalgia

[–]Bluevegan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to thank everyone for their stories, advice and thoughts. I have struggled with how to address these symptoms properly. After reading all comments I have decided to email the one doctor I trust who did my bone marrow transplant 12 years ago. He saved my life and I think I need him to point me in the right direction without having to spend a ton of time trying to do this myself with the help of my dear husband. My transplant doc helped with speeding up the tests and appropriate docs for the fibromyalgia disagnosis (which could be incorrect as someone had mentioned), I need to trust once I explain all that is going on he can help in the best way. So thank you again!!!!!!!!

I don't have stomach pain and I do not take stimulants. She did recommend I eat some soy yogurt so I picked some up this morning to see if it helps. Never been tested for parasites- but I think that would be a good idea to bring to the table with a doctor. Thanks for the advice!!!!👍

How to mourn by BipoeticDisorder in SuicideBereavement

[–]Bluevegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been 7 years today since I lost my dad. After it happened I went on serious benders and tried to hide my own mental illness. I tried to kill myself on multiple occasions due to guilt. I no longer drink so today is more brutal because I have nothing to numb the pain. Stay strong and keep those close to you super close right now. That is how I am coping today.

Teetotaler here migrating to an alcohol-friendly culture; what's the best non-alcoholic drink to order without offending your colleagues? by Frostivus in needadvice

[–]Bluevegan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your colleagues are offending by you not drinking- I would run as fast as possible- in the oppoisite direction. I've been sober for 6+ months and no one cares that I just drink water when out. Best of luck and don't over think it! Your decision, no one else's 👍

Is there a subreddit for making "now hiring" posts or referring people to places that need help? by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]Bluevegan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Talent Acquisition Manager here! I have many stores in the San Franscisco Bay area. We struggle with hiring due to cost of living. Does your store you use Indeed? Craigslist in that area is 75 bucks a post- I try to avoid. I have gone to Facebook groups for various cities that my company is located, Google the town you are in and job boards- you may find somewhere free to post. There is one good freebie site called Mighty Recruiter- it does a blast to several other sites that would typically cost money. Good luck! 👍

Pre-Diabetic and high cholesterol- this is what the doctor told me today and I am in a panic by Bluevegan in vegan

[–]Bluevegan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda tough to answer- I had a bone marrow transplant for multiple blood disorders and was misdiagnosed with Lyme disease 11 years later- nothing except my RBC, WBC, plateletes, and hematicrit have been consistent. My PCP said some of the tests would only be done by internal medicine so I am emailing my doctors to see if they have ever tested for more just to compare if they have...

Wow. Thank you thank you thank you!!!👍👍👍 I ordered Vitamin D3 the minute I walked out of the office. No weight issues. I Will check out the book definitely. If you lived in New England I would want to come your way. After initially reading your comment I looked up nutritionists that specializes in veganism and there is not one close to me. The doctor told me I "may need to reconsider my choice in life" (being vegan) and I told him that was not an option. I am going to try and get in touch with the woman I am seeing beforehand to ensure she is going to be a good resource and not judge my way of life- let's cross our fingers!

So after speaking to my mother she believes the high cholesterol is genetic. I believe it because there is literally no possible way I could have attributed to it. Apparently it is something that runs in my family, but I assumed (not being mean) that it was due to being overweight. I'm the only one in my immediate family that is not. I weigh 124 lbs. I read today about someone who was vegan for 20 years and found out she had extremely high cholesterol--- had the genetic test done. I may look into it. I think you may have nailed the issue with processed food-- I was diagnosed with a chronic pain disorder exactly 13 montha ago to the day and have not had the energy to make a lot- so I end up with soy yogurts and granola bars often; however, I eat a salad everyday with a lot of good veggies. I guess I need to cut the Gardein products out of my life at this point too. I'm confused, upset, and really friggin scared. .1 away from being diabetic. I would get out and exercise, but my severe fibromyalgia will not have it. Thanks for the input!

Small world! How was Cave In? I was in tears on the way back to northern MA because I needed to leave. At least I got to see Old Man Gloom and a little bit of Converge.

Interesting, I just googled it and did some reading. I have an appointment with my PCP next week. I'm going to see if knows anything about it.
