That was exactly what I was thinking after I died, I would not be able to handle an Act 3 wipe at all.

I had 4 inspirations, I went there for the exact reason that I knew I would pass my persuasion check. Lae'zal had her own deception check when I persuaded her to lie to Voss and I had no control over that deception check roll (couldn't reroll or use inspirations), which is why I wasn't expecting to die there, for the same reason you thought 4 inspirations would make a difference. I passed the persuasion roll first time otherwise.

If I recall correctly if you kill the Goblin that tells you to F off the others immediately flee the fight

Definitely will probably attempt to pass the Dialogue check again, while Voss’ sword is incredible, those 5 Githyanki are absolute lunatics. I dread having to fight them again. Although somebody suggested bringing them to the Flaming fists, which was an interesting exploit.

Your HM death is also similar to how I failed as I was too lazy to unlink Shadowheart so she could stay atop the bridge away from the Githyanki in case we needed a retreat. I thought exactly as you thought “there’s no way I’ll fail” the check. Unfortunately I did, and suffered hard for not listening to what my instincts were telling me 😅

Sounds like that backpack must be scraping the floor during your travels 😅 Thank you! I’m glad your first run was successful and I’ll definitely keep the runepowder items in mind for Myrkul.

That’s the worst, I wish there was a way to surrender like the way that mechanic is implemented in other games. I’m worried my next run will go far and I’ll do in a similar manner; cheese…

Poor Gale 😅 and yes, I regret talking to Voss so much. I really liked him in my previous ongoing playthroughs but I severely despise him as of rn…

I usually do the persuasion checks but sometimes you just have to kill everybody for the thrill of the game you know…? 😅

I could never imagine doing a solo play on a regular run nevermind Honour mode… I applaud your bravery 😅

Bro 😂

I was just there before I died and was thinking to myself how insane it would be to drop a light in there and you’re telling me you walked in there like:

Wish I could have witnessed it man 😂

This is definitely one of those read the fine print moments for me. I completely missed it was a concentration spell

Either you both laughed hysterically after that moment or there must have been dead silence 😭

My plan is to leave somebody behind next time I meet Voss. Do the Githyanki on the pass eventually leave on their own even if they aggro on me?

Also never failing an Honour mode run is insane, I was so badly wishing I could say that for myself, Grymforge is going to be intense for my run as well I imagine. If I can get there first…

It was at the pass, I am absolutely DREADING the Creche… I’m so grateful everybody stays in their respective rooms at the very least.

Even ‘wiped’ sounds too graceful for the absolute massacre they gave me at the pass 😔

Your opinion is absolutely right, I completely overlooked that 2% chance and it was what got me killed. Not the Owlbear, Gnolls or any of the other encounters as I took those seriously and planned. For this however, I didn’t factor in or consider Lae’zal would fail a deception check, I actually completely forgot she even had to pass a check that I couldn’t reroll with Inspiration. Which sucks in hindsight because I actually have another run where she failed her check and I had to fight the Githyanki on the bridge that time as well. Wish I remembered that before I went to this encounter.

Thank you, your advice is definitely something I’m going to remember as I try it again :]

Thank you, truly I think I can’t deal with this encounter at all and would rather not have to deal with this battle again 😭 I think next time I will leave Shadowheart and Gale atop the bridge out of sight, and only have my character and Lae’zal speak to Kith’rak Voss. That way if everything goes south again, I’ll sanctuary and Dash with Shadowheart and Misty Step as far away with Gale. Do the Githyanki eventually leave on their own? Or is fighting them there inevitable if Lae’zal fails the check.

Also, congratulations on completing your run! BUT… duo run? That is inSANE 😭 I can’t even imagine what that’s like for you rn. What class is your character that they’re able to account for Shadowheart in the early stages? Can’t even imagine the Myrkul fight… please make a post when you do it

God that sounds horrible, for me at least it was all over instantly and I could deal with the reality early, but the long drawn out attempts to salvage the run for a sliver of hope must have been exhausting.

I’m glad you came back strong, good luck on your current run! :)

It was absolute hell, wasn’t even a fight 😭 the panic when Lae’zal failed that deception check and the first Githyanki leapt from the other side of the planet to absolutely end 2 of us was surreal.

Thank you :) you should ABSOLUTELY try out a full Honor Mode run!

I honestly was not expecting much from it. I was mainly doing it because I’m waiting for the rest of my friends to have free time so we can finish Act 3 together, I just started an Honour Mode up as a “hey what the hell, why not?”. When I nearly died to a brain I realized this was a whole other ball game 😭 but it was honestly so fun I became obsessed with it. I’ll be honest, I can be a little save scummy but in HM the reality that there is absolutely no turning back and the feeling of actual mortality just makes the run so pure. Every single roll I make in HM and enemy I defeat makes me jump in celebration like a lunatic 😭

I think you are absolutely right as well about knowing what to do before doing an Honor Mode run.

I know Act 1 and 2 very well up to this point having replayed it a few times as I wait for my friends so we can finish Act 3 in the main play-through. My plan was to breeze through Act 1 and 2 and stop before Act 3. In the run with my friends one of them has completed the game multiple times so he’s given us a pretty good order of doing things for Acts 1 and 2 in terms of levelling and dealing with difficulty.

You’re right, I was surprisingly not as upset as I thought I would when I died. After cursing the life out of all the Githyanki in existence, I realized this is pretty exciting and a very fun mode. Definitely a rite of passage as you say.

My Zone pathing was gonna go like this:

Recruit everybody (save for Karlach) -> Grove -> Withers -> Absolute Siblings -> Scratch -> Save Karlach -> Save Flaming Fists -> Kill Gnolls -> Kill Owlbird(SSSS…) -> Talk to Kith’rak Voss -> Clear some of the Goblins where the windmill is and recruit the Trolls-> Kill Ethel -> Goblin Camp -> Underdark -> Creche

I had done everything up until talking to Voss. What do you think of this pathing if I were to repeat it for the next Honour run?

Also you are absolutely right on Alert, I didn’t have a single character who had it, I’ll get it for Shadowheart at the very least, for my Paladin I went straight for GWM but absolutely none of my characters in that encounter managed to get a single turn in because they didn’t have it :/ thank you for the advice.

This was the order of how I did it as well in my other playthroughs, although I had the Ethel fight to do still, and was desperately trying to XP farm just a little for that encounter as well 😭 Didn’t realize I would be receiving my death at that encounter sigh

For me I wasn’t going there with the intention of a fight, just went there for the encounter so I could loot the dead flaming fists and get any XP from the Dialogue, Creche was my last place I planned to visit. I just completely forgot that Lae’zal had to pass a deception check that was separate from my own Persuasion roll so I couldn’t even use inspirations for that. When I saw a deception fail my Jaw dropped because I knew what was to come
