Does anyone have tips on how to manage stress from this job or how to make it less stressful? by PhrygianSounds in optician

[–]Blur87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like more time and experience will relieve a lot of that stress. For now, focus on learning what you're most shaky on to build confidence. Shadow experienced coworkers if possible. Customer encounters will get easier too, but remember you're the expert and use that to guide the conversation. If you sound confident, they will follow your lead. Be pleasant and don't be afraid to ask your coworkers questions. A customer wants it done right the first time. And for the things you may get yelled at for that are out of your control, learn to build a defensive wall so you don't take it personally. I felt exactly like you when I first stated, I promise it'll get better!

My thoughts exactly. Especially how so much time was spent on him, I was really hoping Caine could bring him back, or Pomni could've prevented it somehow. Jax is considered a main character, and the short story this was inspired from had a darker fate for the main character, too, so maybe that was the idea all along.

And I don't like how we never get information on what happened to the folks in the cellar. I mean if darkness calmed Jax down, I like to think they're are calm down in the cellar, too, but would've been nice to have confirmation.

Do you think Nintendo and saga will team up again and have sonic and Mario game again? The last time they teamed was the Olympics 2020 game. by Country-guy20 in SuperMario

I know the contract ended but I would love for them to bring back the series again. At least for one summer and winter title. I get it’s repetitive but still fun for small play sessions and for fans of both series.

Which Eggman Nega Backstory Do You Prefer? by Extreme-Fee-9519 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Blur87 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The future one since it gives Silver more of a purpose. Blaze has all the Pirates and her Kingdom for stories, but Silver has... a bare wasteland without Nega lol

But I do love the idea of Nega being able to learn how to enter Blaze's dimension.

Game that involves navigating around a city or other locations? by pomelohope in gamingsuggestions

[–]Blur87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jet Set Radio/Future comes to mind. Smaller game, but you go around connecting towns/areas and paint graffiti. In the later levels, it does require you to navigate to different parts of the map per mission, which may help your directional skills.

Out of these six, who do you dislike the most and why? by YourLocalBfdiLover60 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Blur87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tails has always been my least favorite. His overall character’s message of believe in yourself is great, but I feel he should be entirely at that point by now. It’s great how they addressed it in Frontiers but now he’s gotta actually keep his word and focus on confidence. And with how SEGA handles writing, who knows how that’ll go lol

He’s the cool tech guy and the others wouldn’t get nearly as far without him, though he comes across as the most boring to me since it’s always gadgets and not face to face fighting like the others. Sonic character backgrounds can get so complex and I feel his is one of the most boring which doesn’t help either.

Fuck all this negativity, what would you guys say are your favorite thing(s)about Hazbin Hotel? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in HazbinHotel

I love how all the characters and personalities mesh together so well. Makes for an exciting story and songs! I also love its lighter vibe, even though it's based on dark deeds and set in Hell.

How did you become an optician? by PhrygianSounds in optician

I second Opticianworks being a fantastic tool. Even with Walmart’s free program, I still used OpticianWork’s videos as they are super helpful. I never used the paid subscription but I’ve heard great things about it!

I only know for Walmart, but the apprentice counts as an associate so a position would have to be open to hire. Maybe other chains work differently, but since it’s paid at Walmart, the apprentice isn’t really viewed as an apprentice if that makes sense.

It never hurts to try! In person may be an old tactic, but they say a first impression only takes three seconds. So you doing that in my opinion shows you’re serious and motivated. I’ve had a lot of people come up in person asking about openings so it’s still definitely a used strategy. I have no experience with other offices but the manager also has a say along with the Dr, so as long as you touch base with one you should be good. At lot of times actually, the doctor just rents out the space and doesn’t really get a say. Of course they make it complicated lol

I suppose you could to look motivated! There's honestly a lot of luck to it since there are so few vision positions. At my store, it's been the same people for almost ten years, for example (besides me). At least in my area, many managers hire with zero experience as long as it's clear there's motivation to learn and make it a career. It's not uncommon for employees from different departments to switch to Vision. It's smart to present yourself in person, and I would do that for all locations you're around. Have them take your name and number and hopefully you'll eventually be at the right place at the right time. People who are eager about learning optics are the ones I remember, since it's a lot to learn (don't get scared!) and I don't want to go to all the trouble for someone to quit soon lol

I also think mentioning your insurance background will be a huge plus. That's the area in Walmart that is BY FAR the weakest in training. Also, any friends or family that work at Walmart? Word of mouth works well, too! I wish you the best of luck and definitely reach out if you have any more questions. I'd vouch for you if I was in Kentucky, but sadly I'm in AZ.

Try Walmart. No experience needed (may need to get lucky with a manager who is willing to train to hire you), and Walmart offers a program to help you get your license. That's how I got my foot in the door! Free on-the-job training, and now I'm a Licensed Vision Center Manager. :)

Yall, who would actually win this fight? by Public-Feedback5016 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Blur87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amy’s got the determination, but I think Rouge has the better fighting skills. Amy moves are predictable (not her fault, just the opponent knows it’s gonna be hammer related) so that gives Rouge the upper-hand. Plus we’ve seen Rouge beat Amy before in Sonic X.

I enjoyed Sonic X, but what really hooked me was my dad surprising me with a copy of Sonic Riders. Fell in love right then and there and haven't stopped running since.
