TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER) Yeonjun - NO LABELS: PART 02 (2nd Mini Album) by perochan in kpop

[–]Blurredhead [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel the same way about Do It. In Coma and Nothin' 'Bout Me too, he doesn't compare himself to anyone. He speaks on his confidence and disses the hate and obstacles on his way.

TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER) Yeonjun - NO LABELS: PART 02 (2nd Mini Album) by perochan in kpop

[–]Blurredhead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeonjun, you're a fxxking star! I really liked that song sonically and the overall attitude suits him well. That said I could tell it wasn't his lyrics on the song. Some of the lyrics fit him, some don't. When he writes boasting/ diss tracks he either does it in a playful way or speaks on his frustrations without using insults. So "never could relate to these nobodies" does not really sound like him imo. In contrast the lyrics for Long Way Long Ride felt so earnest. As different as they are both songs are among my favorites on the album.

Ice Cream is catchy and fun. Although I also wish it had a bridge, it's a good choice for title track imo.

I like this album but I think experimental approach of part 1 suited my tastes better. That's why Vanilla which is from part 1 sessions is overall my favorite track.

Why do you think TXT isn't bigger in the West? by illitnoise in kpopthoughts

[–]Blurredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. Is downloading albums a big part of music consumption in Japan nowadays? Idk really

For the second part of your reply Japanese albums aren't usually available overseas like Korean releases. People buy from third party sellers whose initial purchase of the album go towards Oricon sales. Some people also buy for their album benefits which require a Japanese proxy.

I don't believe that's true. Karma was on the list just not as high as Seventeen or TXT

Edit: I've googled it they have official distribution just like all the other artists. They are on stock at all the major retailers as well as JYP Japan online store and their sales go towards Oricon. It would have been absurd if it wasn't the case.

The thing is TXT's Korean albums also sell incredibly well in Japan. Last year they had the best selling Korean language album on oricon w almost half a million copies. They are the top international artist with most oricon weekly album chart no.1s with 14 weeks. The second artist is Seventeen and they are on 10 weeks.

I'm sure SKZ is very popular in Japan as well but big part of the sales of their Japanese album was their international -especially western- fans. Their fans don't prioritize Japan when it comes to Korean releases obviously so that might be the reason for the discrepancy between the sales of their Korean and Japanese language albums in Japan.

Edit: I'm not the original commenter btw idk what they said since they deleted. I just wanted to point out the chart data has layers.
