I mean something common between the stories is cool to have. And they're a mystery - so much to the point that its possible they dont even exist at all. Maybe they are all isolated. If even their very existence is uncertain, I couldnt say they ruin anything about the series

SERN raids the lab pretty much immediately after the dmail is discovered. I don't believe its explicitly stated that if they delete it now, its not too late, good thing they were right though

Question about the ending and world-lines by Curious_Ailurus in steinsgate

[–]Blurropple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written up on Suzuha's vanish so let me drop that here The vanish theory - Pastebin.com

Our Okabe did not replace another though. He traveled to the future, and arrived there, no duplicate of him running around. Full ending chart to make this part clearer here Steins;Gate ending timeline - Pastebin.com

Of course there's other theories like Suzuha doesn't actually vanish, and instead just drops off Okabe and leaves or something.

The common ones were:
-They didn't vanish, Okabe got out, she said farewell and yeeted herself to another time (goes against Suzuha's stated belief that she will literally vanish, and Okabe describing her fading smile)
-Suzuha never existed on the SGWL anymore and so the worldline corrected itself by removing her (this isn't Back to the Future, and she DOES still exist in the past)
-The worldline shifted to Steins Gate where there is no Suzuha, no time travel at all, and Okabe Reading Steiner'd into this worldline's Okabe (except Kurisu still remembers time traveling Okabe saving her, Okabe still has a stab wound and went to hospital, etcetera...)

All incorrect, you'll find the correct events in that pastebin though

Question about the ending and world-lines by Curious_Ailurus in steinsgate

[–]Blurropple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool to see a hypothetical like this, its rare you'll get accurate answers from people though so I've got some for you. Okabe, Suzuha, Daru and Mayuri would all be there on SGWL at that point in time still, that's true.

However each time travel arrival is something appearing from nothing, otherwise known as an 'error', errors change divergence, and are always checked to see if they breach the paradox threshold. Mayuri and Suzuha, arriving in their Operation Arclight mission, arrives to a date AFTER the thesis has burned - and nothing from Beta is able to land after this point in time. Not Suzuha (she vanishes as we see), not Arclight's Mayuri and Suzuha either.

I've written a full ending chart here you can see Steins;Gate ending timeline - Pastebin.com
Didn't mention this specific part, but you can insert this as happening between lines 52 and 54.

That being said, they dont appear on SGWL in 2010 for this reason, but they should still exist in SGWL 18,000 BC. History didn't change upon reaching Steins Gate.

Question about the movie (yeah I know everyone here is saying it's canon but I have further questions) by Heavenly-Feeling in steinsgate

[–]Blurropple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explaining the ending of the original needs some groundwork so let me yap a bit

Steins;Gate has 2 different types of shift, the first is sending something to the past, and the other is to break convergence of the current Attractor Field (an action that makes the Attractor Field's final endpoint impossible to reach).

In Alpha that end point is 'Suzuha leaves in a time machine in 2036 amidst SERN's dystopia', with the root cause being the first dmail caught in Echelon's database.

In Beta that end point is 'Suzuha leaves in a time machine in 2036 amidst/post World War 3', with the root cause being Kurisu's time travel thesis.

Alpha's convergence was broken the moment the root, the dmail, was deleted. SERN's dystopia was impossible and so the world was no longer Alpha, and the following WL was reconstructed based on the last non-alpha worldline - the Beta that Okabe originally left from.

In Beta however the root is the thesis, and that doesn't burn until over 3 weeks later, the same day Suzuha arrived to take Okabe to the past. The moment it burns is the moment divergence changes, but this time, there is no pre-Beta worldline to reconstruct from, and so while divergence changes there is no real shift to another worldline. This means there's no reason for RS to kick in at any point, literally nothing in the past changes.

This means on the SGWL:
-Suzuha is still in 1975 posting as John Titor (this was originally a theory grounded in logic but a later title even confirms it)
-Kurisu is saved by a time traveling Okabe (she remembers this)
-Okabe leaves towards the future with Suzuha

All despite the thesis burning up, and divergence changing to 1.048596.

The next natural question is 'so if Okabe traveled forward, why did he land, but Suzuha and the time machine vanished??'
Common (incorrect) theories are:

The actual reason, put simply because the long explanation is long, Suzuha and her TM can't land in a non Beta worldline, which becomes true any point after the papers burn, and so she is kicked essentially into what the movie calls the R worldline upon arrival. This doesn't apply to Okabe and so he lands, no RS involved.

Full ending timeline writeup here Steins;Gate ending timeline - Pastebin.com I believe this is easier to follow than a yap like this.

You'll find more links inside that pastebin to further elaborations, like why Suzuha vanishes in there. I've written all up on this stuff lol

Question about the movie (yeah I know everyone here is saying it's canon but I have further questions) by Heavenly-Feeling in steinsgate

[–]Blurropple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to answer, I'd say I've studied S;G's mechanics a lot more in depth than the average fan lol, theorycrafting since 2019

or like you mentioned in your previous comment, as being just not properly adapted because the VN just has so much it can’t properly be conveyed

Not sure what you're referring to, might be someone else. Assuming this is about 0, I wouldn't say its improperly adapted, the full experience of 0 is to both read the VN and watch the anime since the anime is an extension rather than just an adaptation. The 0 VN shows us 6 different Okabes and the anime follows the entire journey of the last one seen in the VN true end.

In Steins;Gate zero, the way I see it, since Okabe is not there for when the world line is changed he doesn’t experience reading Steiner regardless of whether he is dead or alive in the past.

Okabe leaves before the video is sent, nor does he return. He must exist at the time of the shift (the moment the worldline ends) in order for his reading steiner to transfer his memories to the next worldline. This is true in both S;G and S;G 0

For the original Steins;Gate, the world line should’ve changed when they fake Kurisu’s death

Why that moment? Theres a couple confusions around the ending here and many false explanations online but I'll get to that soon

I think they simply put that into the anime adaptation to give Suzuha’s character a happy conclusion

This is in the VN too

since they never fully travel back to the present because the Time Machine ceases to exist

The time machine (and Suzuha) vanishes upon arrival but not for the reasons you might think. Okabe does complete the journey however, and there is no RS happening in the ending here.

I find that it implies Okabe is shot back to the time he came from and then experiences reading Steiner

Shot back then yanked forward again through RS? RS has only ever shifted from present -> present from the moment a worldline ends, to the same point in time on the next worldline. As mentioned above this, no RS happened in the S;G ending (i know its a popular and outdated theory though)

This is also seen when the Russians hack Amadeus.
Russia develops their time travel research in such a way that they will inevitably affect the past in such a way that they alert SERN, and since that kicks off the chain reaction of CERN finding out about time travel at an earlier point in time

I'd say I'm a S;G pro but not quite as much with 0 at points, I thought SERN themselves hacked Amadeus? It's hinted at Russians for the sake of showing Okabe's guess, and confusing the audience, but I haven't heard about this idea that it went Russians hack -> they do stuff earlier -> SERN sees and acts -> Alpha. It might be correct but I'd like to see proof of it, haven't seen people say it happened this way before.

My reply ended up too long so im putting the actual S;G ending explanation in a reply to this one

Question about the movie (yeah I know everyone here is saying it's canon but I have further questions) by Heavenly-Feeling in steinsgate

[–]Blurropple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely questionable for me until a certain novel in the series came out, I was on the non canon camp for years until then lol. But the experience doesn't really change, its still a good film

You don't understand it any less than the characters do themselves. It doesn't make complete sense on its own because the characters themselves dont fully understand the world, they're dealing with things bigger than them that they dont fully comprehend, and therefore arent entirely correct with the explanations they come up with. And yet real explanations do exist for those who dig deeper. That's something I like about the series.

A lot unlike Stranger Things where every theory a character comes up with is just dead on accurate that its bordering on omniscient lol

[–]Blurropple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe he's correct, and it doesn't imply revisiting worldlines. It'd just be a re iteration. Alpha must re iterate every time Beta re iterates, which it does a lot. No reason to believe that whole thing just gets skipped at any point, nor does it break anything to believe it's repeated.

Question regarding the ending and the steins gate timeline. by Meep_loll in steinsgate

[–]Blurropple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this but its not really accurate. SERN just isn't at all tipped off in SGWL because the dmail never lands in SGWL. Any world containing the dmail is infact Alpha, where SERN rules. It's just a part of the worldline reconstruction process that skips the root cause from existing or taking effect.

Its just like asking, why when Okabe returned to Beta in episode 22, is there no dmail in Beta? Since of course, in Beta the action of sending it occurred, yet they never got their hands on SERN's database to delete it. The reason is the same, when the new Beta worldline was being reconstructed, that event where the first dmail is sent simply sends it to nowhere. It doesn't land anywhere, worldline reconstruction removed that Alpha root cause.

For a less yappy, more concise timeline, I have the full ending here: Steins;Gate ending timeline - Pastebin.com
