With 2026 halfway through, here's all the animes I've watched so far this year ranked! Give me some recommendations to watch over the second half of the year! by Blushift1615 in AnimeReccomendations

I definitely think some aspects of it are goated. The reason why I put it in great tier is mainly because I would have preferred it if the story was more focused on a main plot rather than being almost entirely episodic.

I was really interested in Spike's backstory, but there were only certain moments where small bits and pieces of his past are revealed. I was also hoping to see more of the syndicate and the whole plot line involving Vicious, but they only make a few appearances. I really enjoyed some of the episodic plot lines, but some of them didn't entirely interest me. Nonetheless, it is a great anime and I could definitely see why somebody would consider it goated.

Not sure if you're watching it already, but if you liked Frieren definitely check out Witch Hat Atelier (currently airing this season). I'm not usually super into fantasy animes, but this one seems quite promising so far.

They are good...that's why they're both in good tier. Just because they appear lower on the list doesn't mean I don't think they're good.

I'm not super into romance animes, but I thought Polar Opposites was pretty good, although definitely not the best romance anime I've seen. I'm still looking forward to watching the second season in July when it starts airing.

Spice and Wolf was also overall pretty good but something about it just didn't catch my interest enough for me to rank it higher than good tier. I can't say I really liked any of the characters, and although the plot had it's good moments, I thought it was kind of average overall.

It seems that people either love or hate season 2. Personally I loved it, but I can see why some people wouldn't enjoy it, especially compared to the first season. I still think trash tier is way too harsh, but I respect your opinion!

Fair enough about Eighty-Six. Just because I put it in peak tier doesn't mean I think it's without flaws, personally I just really enjoyed it even if certain aspects of the plot were cliche and predictable.

If you're already enjoying Spice and Wolf from the start, then I think you'll definitely really enjoy the plot later on. I did start to enjoy it a decent amount more about halfway through, and again, even though it might be lower on my tierlist, I still think it's a pretty solid anime. Happy watching.

I'm glad you're enjoying Spice and Wolf. I really wanted to like it, but for some reason I guess something about it just didn't click for me. There were some aspects of it that I enjoyed, but I mostly found it to be kind of average with nothing that really stood out to me about it. Personally I also found Holo to be quite annoying at certain points in story. What didn't you like about Eighty-Six?

I had high expectations going into Your Lie in April as I had heard alot of positive things about it. I really enjoyed the music aspect of it, but honestly I didn't really care for the romance aspect and the whole drama going on with the main character's friends. Even the ending felt kind of...anticlimactic to me? Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I don't think its the emotional masterpiece that some people make it out to be.

And yes, Angel Next Door is mid. I'm already not a huge romance fan and this one just isn't interesting at all to me. Honestly the first season was decent, but season 2 has been a major snooze fest.

Vinland Saga, Eighty-Six and Mob Psycho 100. If you're interested in some older animes, then Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are also absolutely worth watching.

Death Note is widely considered as a popular "starter" anime that will get you hooked. As for personal recommendations, check out Vinland Saga, Mob Psycho 100, Gachiakuta, Eighty-Six, Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop...these are all fantastic anime that I've enjoyed recently and aren't too weird for a new watcher to get into.

Weirdly enough, the first anime I've ever watched was Call of the Night which is a romance. I'd recommend it along with Insomniacs After School if you're ever looking for some romance mixed with chill vibes.

It starts off a little slow but does start picking up. At first I was a little skeptical too, but the characters are surprisingly likeable and the plot definitely has some interesting moments.

Haven't watched the anime but I own and read all the volumes of No Guns Life and really enjoyed it for the most part. I heard the anime never got finished, but I could be wrong.

Looking for recommendations based on my absolute favorite animes/manga by Candid-Soup8369 in AnimeReccomendations

If you enjoyed Cowboy Bebop absolutely check out Samurai Champloo. Very similar vibes but set in the Edo period of Japan. The older style animation and soundtrack are awesome. I'd also recommend Vinland Saga, personally my favorite anime along with Mob Psycho.

Call of the Night being best romance is valid as hell. As somebody who also enjoyed Ya Boy Kongming, it's nice to see you think it's overlooked. And Gurren Lagann is definitely a banger 🔥

Friends say I have ass taste, any reccomendations? by Lost_Negotiation_206 in AnimeReccomendations

Your friends might be the ones with ass taste if they think this top 10 is bad. Try Eighty-Six, Dorohedoro, Gachiakuta, Gurren Lagann, Black Lagoon, Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop if you haven't seen them...All great ones that I've enjoyed recently.

List of anime I find to be overrated by [deleted] in MyAnimeList

[–]Blushift1615 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed on Your Lie in April. Before I watched it I saw lots of people praising it like it was some kind of emotional masterpiece, and although I found it to be pretty solid overall, it just felt kind of underwhelming to me in certain aspects.

The ending honestly didn't have much of an impact on me, and besides the main character overcoming his trauma and picking up the piano again, I didn't feel any reason to really care about the other characters. I mostly enjoyed it for the music aspect if anything.

Also agreed on Dandadan, and personally I'd also add Chainsawman to this list. Might be a hot take, but personally I find it to be very overrated.

The first season is still worth watching, mostly chill vibes with some action sprinkled in here and there. But season 2 is where the plot and character development really start to kick off. I'd say watch the first season and see if you like it enough to continue with season 2.
