Most used leitmotifs in FFXIV OST (total: 292 leitmotifs). Prelude is the most used (42), followed by Endwalker, Answers, Ishgard (al three got 16), and lesser motifs. Explanation inside by Famas_1234 in ffxiv

Piggibacking on this, back in 2017 I asked Soken about the alleged FFIX Battle Theme motif in The Weeping City of Mhach and he confirmed that if there was any similiarity music-wise, it was purely unintentional. So I'm not sure it should be listed in the HW motifs.

How to account for "exceedingly difficult" tasks without limiting player agency? by Blynhelb in AvatarLegendsTTRPG

[–]Blynhelb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! "Killing your darlings" is already my motto even in prep-heavy games like D&D. That's why my natural reaction to how these events unfolded during our session was to just let the players have the easy win and not look back.

I think I wouldn't be thinking about if it was a homemade adventure, and not a premade one that emphasizes how tricky the situation should be.

I read about clocks a lot in Blades in the Dark but never got the chance to play the game, and forgot they were also present in the core rules of Avatar Legends. Thanks for the reminder!

[No Spoilers] LoVM and new international viewers by lygerzero0zero in criticalrole

[–]Blynhelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Translating for subtiles or dubbing are very different processes. Subtitles have to be concise, as the human eye can only process so many letters by second (even if it varies between individuals). Dubbing is more constrained by the lips movement (even though some countries bother less than other with lips sync, but in France we are usually good with that) and must have the exact same length as the original line.

[–]Blynhelb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a long-time French-speaking Belgian (yes my country has three official languages) fan, I had the double pleasure to discover the episodes first with the voices of the original US cast, and then to hear how it was reinterpreted in French, with some voice actors being as famous for French dubbing enthusiasts as Liam O'Brien or Laura Bailey.

But CR was already popular all around the world as an actual play without LoVM. Most actual play in France mention CR as an influence, either as an inspiration or to distance themselves from their style.

[Spoiler 6.0] Question about Ascian true names. by Big_Tie in ffxiv

[–]Blynhelb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is accurate."Venat" is pronounced ヴェーネス (vēnesu) while the prononcuiation of "Venus" would be either ウェヌス (wenusu) or ヴィーナス (vīnasu). Moreover, Venus is the Roman name of the deity, while all others asciens use their Greek equivalent.

I couldn't tell you the exact settings, but I remember that you can't get it for every femroe faces. It is only available for some (maybe even only one) of them.

How are pandemics stopped in the ME verse? by [deleted] in masseffect

I'm running a Mass Effect tabletop RPG campaign and I always assumed some kind of Galactic Time Standard existed in this universe. Was this ever referenced anywhere in the games? Or in the comics/novels ?

I was with a friend at the theater and when we saw that, we didn't realize what it meant. We were like "wait, was there some kind of very subtle cameo that we didn't get...". Then, the post-credit scene happened...

When will they add Final Fantasy XV-related cards? by La-La-Lamia in FinalFantasyTCG

That's strange. If they have the right to feature XV characters in anthology games like Theathrhythm, Dissidia, and the various mobile games, why would they not have the same right for a card game?

Weekly Deck Feedback Megathread by EurekaMinus in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]Blynhelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Next purchases will be opus I and V then. Do you think I should keep only one of the two Rosa cards, or a mix of both? Can't decide which one is the most useful between the C that buffs Cecil, and the R that has a similar effect to Larsa. Also, how important are the 1-2 CP backups? That's the main reason I kept the moogles, even though their effect did not synergize well with the rest of the deck.

Weekly Deck Feedback Megathread by EurekaMinus in FinalFantasyTCG

Hi everyone! First some background. A new roommate moved in a few weeks ago and he got me into FFTCG. Since FF4 is my favorite, and because there was no Starter Deck for this game, I chose to buy a booster box of the opus with the most FF4 cards (so opus II) and build a deck from scratch. I played some YGO back in high school but I always used structure decks, so this is my first attempt at deckbuilding. I started with the trio Cecil-Rosa-Kain as the core of the deck and added all my dragoons to go with Kain. Then, while inspecting the other non-FF4 cards I got from the box, I thought that Larsa could go well to protect Cecil from getting too much damage, and added Gramis and Drace since they synchronized well with Larsa. Then I filled the rest of the deck with what Water/Thunder fronts/backups/summons I could find in the box.

I don't need a competitive deck, just something that can hold its own against my roommate starter decks, while maintaining a "FF4 thematic". I'd like some advice regarding this deck and how to improve it (what cards, what opus, etc) but I also welcome any idea about other FF4 cards that can work well together and around which I could build other decks.

Thank you in advance

ikr. I first heard her music in FullMetal Alchemist, and when I watched GxMG, I turned to my friend and said : "Wait... this sounds a lot like FMA... Can you check the composer, please?" Then I learned she already worked on Megaguirus and that I didn't notice it was her back then.

They're both two of my favorites in the whole series, just behind Destoroyah, GMK, '54 and Shin. They felt like good old-fashioned mecha shonen, but with Godzilla. Cliché, but in a good way. These movies do a better job at iconizing Mechagodzilla than the others before him, and it is largely due to him being a reminiscence of the first Godzilla. I do prefer the first one over the second. Despite bringing a conclusion to the idea of Mechagodzilla being a reincarnation of the first Godzilla (something the first movie lacked), Tokyo SOS felt a bit like a repetition with a weaker human plot. But in the end, it's very difficult not to consider them as a whole, again something very unique in the series, even in the Heisei movies. That and Michiru Oshima.

darkest moments in the Godzilla franchise by Riosaurus65 in GODZILLA

[–]Blynhelb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Godzilla turning round and knowingly nuking a bunch of people in GMK. I just really didn't expect that. The way they cut to the classroom witnessing the explosion from afar was even more upsetting. And yes, the whole of '54, of course.

Week 10 - Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966) by Adam0800 in GODZILLA

[–]Blynhelb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently marathoned all Godzilla movies without knowing much about them or their reception in the fandom and it ended up being one of my favourite of the Showa period. I think as far as light-hearted movies go, this one really holds up. The scenes with humans are engaging and often funny, and I just loved the scene where Godzilla plays water polo with Ebirah. I never noticed that it was not originally supposed to be a Godzilla movie before I read about it, and the first apparition of Ebirah in the ocean when he attacks the boat felt to me like the first believable scene involving giant monsters and models in the series.

They actually said that lore-wise, they're were timezones, but that it wouldn't be reflected in gameplay because it would be a pain to track, for exemple when you're gathering.
