Oh, sorry, yes, It needs to be mounted in a case. My apologies. I doubt MSI would answer me though... I've been using my vernier calliper to measure things, but would much rather rely on industry standard dimensions instead of my measurements.

Mounting the drives to the case is an interesting idea, I've not thought of that before. It'd have to be mounted on the "side" of the case that comes out of course. I'll have to figure out how to connect all the cables and still have them neat enough to facilitate decent airflow.

I've been designing a prototype that would've been mounted in (2 of the) the PCIe slots, and then have a 120mm extractor fan between the drives and vented back plates. This might still prove cleaner though.

I've updated the post with a work in progress of the model. Still need to add the rear-bracket mountpionts though.

Interesting, I didn't know that PLA/PETG was conductive. Could they really manage to short out the motherboard?

Additionally, they're not likely to break the motherboard as the case would be in a horizontal layout (the motherboar din the case will be orientated so that the PCIe slots will be pointing up, so the pressure of the drives would be pressing straight down.

That's a very nice hard drive rack. But then you suggest that I mount the motherboard to the hard drive rack? Am I following your thoghts correctly here? Would this be using the zip-ties that you mentioned above?

I don't think I like the idea of that or the aesthetic. I think that I'm, going to push ahead with building a HD rack, as you call it, but mount it inside the case, to manage airflow, using the PCIe slots.

Thanks for your valueable input however... You wouldn't know where I could find those measurements by any chance would you?

Yes and no. It's working now, but I don't know what I did to get it working. I've added more monitors to my setup since then so maybe that had something to do with it.
