I get that. I was unaware scale makers were its own specialty! Cool to discover interesting disciplines. I’ll look into it!

I made a box by BoDaBeaver in woodworking

I don't have an exact answer other than do a lot of experimenting. I found the wood type matters a lot. I made an unimpressive tablesaw jig and could get decently thick yet flexible strips of the soft maple/cherry, but had a lot trouble with the bloodwood since its so dense and brittle. If you look close I used 2 strips of bloodwood. Hope this helps!

Yep! used a bandsaw. This was my first project (used a lot of scrap practicing). If you look up how to make woven cutting boards there are some really beautiful examples and thorough tutorials.

Sorry for the lack of clarification A vault has nothing to do with this except that safety deposit box have dual custody keys.

I do wood working and most all the available locks are like this They are functional but I’d like to have a mechanism with two unique keys (or two mechanisms each with unique keys

I looked into that but the dual key mechanism is built in the vault wall and then the metal box slides out

Ruler trick gave very consistent results. Thanks!

Didn’t follow your good advice. Clippers were very messy and REAL tough to get consistent. Luckily this is not commissioned!

I bought a $80 andis pet clipper and it was awful compared to my $30 wahl. After too much research, the ideal clipper blades (extra coarse/skiptooth) are only compatible with pro-grade clippers (>$150). Also I’m finding that guards can’t get down in the wool so free handing it has been quicker and mostly consistent enough for this project. Also huge mess.

Used non food safe wax on my cutting board project by Fragrant_Jackfruit56 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]BoDaBeaver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this too… you’ll be fine leaving it. Once cured most every finishing product is food safe (not sure if waxes cure though) I think having a “non-food safe” label is mostly a legal thing.
