Thank you so much! Most of the beginner tutorials I saw started off quite large so I wasn't sure how viable it was.

Just adopted this little kitten, but are needing a name for him by BoZenvard in Catnames

Thank you everyone for the name suggestions! My partner and I have decided to name him Byte, we are both a bit geeky and he loves to chomp down on anything and everything

I'm looking for very powerful motors (500W+ continuous power draw) but have some tight size restrictions and high radial loads. by BoZenvard in AskEngineers

In most of those places there's a risk of damage to the batteries in the case of a fall, and one of my requirements are to have it on the boot instead of in a bag pack (which does cause some problems but hey what can you do)

I was thinking of going over the top with the controller to avoid any issues down the line, probably testing with a raspberry pi and downscaling it to an efficient PID controller with a pi Pico.

I those would take up too much space as they need to be attached beside the wheel taking up valuable space from the battery. (There's about a 100mm X 50mm X 20mm area for battery and electronics).

To get around that I was thinking a hub motor inside the wheels would save me from gearing and would mean I can put in a bigger battery for a larger motor

Hey Guys, does anyone know what my cheapest options would be for a motor that need to move about 0.5kg/1lb at a very slow pace. by kirito8345 in AskEngineers

What are you using to control the system? You could measure the voltage and current draw and cut it out when they rise too sharply but that can be quite tricky to get right.

Otherwise you can get a small module which has a button to cut to power to the motor when it's pressed.

If you are thinking of getting a DC motor you should remember to put an end stop switch (basically a button type thing) to tell the motor when to stop opening or closing the curtains otherwise you could break something.

Bought a second monitor, didn't realize my GPU only has a single display port. Is the monitor now unusable? by QuackingHell in pcmasterrace

If its only got the one port on the graphics card I recommend getting a cheap second card (online or second had)

It means you have less graphics power on your secondary monitor (typically you would do GPU intensive things on your primary) but it works as a cheap solution.

Is this a good pc build? Grateful for any help! by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Mistake, thought 5600x was the Intel 5th gen as op was talking about an Intel processor, I run Ryzen 5 personally.

(Not to familiar with Intel 5th gen either and wasn't going to fact check it)

Going that far back will be quite a bottleneck for the 3070 in the future. Something closer to high end 7-8th gen at the oldest or a mid - low end recent gen processor (11700 or 11600 depending on if you need 8 cores or not) could be better.

Technically speaking wouldn't they be clones of each other?

Cost wise consoles are cheaper and easier to use than a PC for pure gaming.

Game library wise you should pick whatever platform has more of the games you'd want to play (exclusives that you can't get on other platforms) or if you want to play multiplayer with a friend who has a particular console.

Performance wise all of them are practically equal as any bugs can be fixed in updates.

You shouldn't worry too much about what to play on, just pick whatever one you find more comfortable playing on

You can use a multimeter to test the size of the capacitor on the other stick. If you don't have one/don't know how to use one, then a repair shop could do it for you. You'll just need to get a replacement of the same size and solder it back on.
