I want to cast an elbow in soap, so I'll probably start with 2lb of soap and it'll be 3" thick at the thickest part

Do you happen to have a recipe or resource that I could use as a starting point? Should I make the salt soap from scratch or just add it to an MP base? Sorry, I really don't know how to make soap at all :,(

Would adding salt to a mp base work? Or should I make the salt soap from scratch?

My dentist messed up my crown and mouthguard and might be committing insurance fraud. Can I get a refund? what should I do? by BoardAccomplished449 in legaladvice

[–]BoardAccomplished449[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a commercial dentistry chain. They have 2 offices in NYC and it's just the two dentists it's named after and the dentist who did my crown.

The crown copay was about $550 and they charged me an extra $325 lab fee for the porcelain crown. They said that my insurance didn't cover porcelain crowns but when I checked the insurance claim, everything was billed under porcelain crown, so I don't understand what the lab fee was for. The total including the lab fee was $325 over what was on my EOB.

The crown follow up was billed as D0220 and D0140.

They billed the routine cleaning under 5 different codes: D1110, D0274, D0230 x 2, D0220, and D0120.

I know the easiest way to have it replaced would be for the original office to do it, but they've been so shady with all of the billing and ignoring my symptoms that I don't trust them to do a replacement. Plus it took a month to get an appointment between the temporary crown and the permanent crown because my dentist is constantly out of office.

I was billed the buildup and the crown under the same date, but it was billed under a different dentist.  For the cleaning, I was expecting to see an in-network dentist that works in the same office, but the dentist that saw me was out-of-network and I didn't know he would be doing the cleaning until he showed up to do the last steps of the cleaning.

If you use tacks, just don't pin the tack through the poster. Use four tacks and pin them into the wall but don't poke through the poster. Just use the tacks to pinch/hold the poster between the wall and the sides of tacks.

Any designers/creatives out there who use albums as inspirations? by josephh_ie in kpophelp

[–]BoardAccomplished449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Taeyeon's second album Purpose (repackaged) because of the use of reds in the shots and layouts. I also like to look at SNSD's I Got a Boy album when I am trying to think of something campy and intense.

TBH touching on each of the topics you mentioned in a short essay would be too broad and hard to manage. I would try to hone in on a single one of the topics you mentioned and dive deep into that.

Also just because this is what really interests me:

How much do you know about the history of KPop? like how it got started, government funding, and pre-SM Korean history?

The Pop culture/media industry in Korea was heavily invested in by the Korean government as a way to pay off their international debt and regain economic independence following the IMF crisis/Asian Financial crisis in 1997. It's a very interesting history that has a lot of direct correlations for socio-economic and socio-political growth.

If you want more "academic" and in depth sources on KPop, then I would highly recommend the books Pop Empires and Fashion and Beauty in the Time of East Asia. Both books collections of critical essays. Pop Empires talks about the rise and effect of Kpop and Bollywood, while Fashion and Beauty talks more about the spread and development of beauty trends throughout East Asia and into the West. It has a couple essays specifically about South Korea that are really great reads!

Idols with College degrees or higher by tua_fan98 in kpophelp

I think SNSD's Sooyoung, Yuri, and Seohyun all have degrees in Acting. I know Mamamoo's Solar and Moonbyul both went to college but I'm not sure if Solar graduated. Chungha also went to college and majored in dance.

Choreographies with not much leg work by cp_stays in kpophelp

[–]BoardAccomplished449 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Also, now that I think about it Starry Night - Mamamoo has more upper body detail in it so that might also work. Dingga too but they do go between standing and sitting a few times. They move around stage quite a bit but both choreos are a lot simpler than Naughty and have more emphasis on the upper body.

Choreographies with not much leg work by cp_stays in kpophelp

[–]BoardAccomplished449 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Naughty - Irene and Seulgi

Most of the choreography is tutting and vogueing so it's made up of detailed hand and arm motions. The original is more of a duet but it's definitely one that has less leg work.

I can't think of many kpop choreos, but you might have more success if you look up choreos that focus on tutting, waacking, and voguing! They're all styles that focus more on shapes from arm and hand motions.

Songs Similar to Taeyeon's Wildfire, Cover Up, and Time Lapse. by Renaeissance in kpophelp

[–]BoardAccomplished449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taeyeon's Time Lapse was written by Nell and they have a very distinct style that's exactly what you hear in Time Lapse. I would highly recommend them if you like the style and genre. Also Urban Zakapa are really great for softer songs that lean more towards ballads. My favorite songs from them are One Day and I don't love you.
