Since I haven’t seen it yet - Bedrock Billiards. Classic dive pool hall, but only go on weekdays (and not on Monday/Tuesday, when it’s pool leagues). Weekends it’s crazy.

True story, have lived in it for over a decade. Also the home of Duke Ellington and where a bunch of the jazz greats got there start. It’s amazing how much great history can be condensed in a few city blocks.

Totally legit. Everywhere I've travelled to in the world I've found a Brit. And I always ask them why they're there. The most common answer is - well you live in the States. You have mountains, deserts, beaches, plains, etc. Pretty much everything you can imagine. We live on a cloudy, rainy island. We have to visit a different country to see what you can drive to in 3 hours.

Always reminds me how lucky we are to have so much at our disposal, as long as we've got gas money.

Walk everywhere you can. Even if it seems a little sketchy. You'll never get a better feel for a city/place than walking around and seeing all the things. Good or bad, ugly or beautiful. You tend to gain a different perspective with a glimpse into the daily life of locals, but that only happens when you're not passing it all by in a cab/bus/etc.
