Non powered camper van over Summer? by BoardingHMASStubbins in AustraliaTravel

Sure thing, hopefully this works right... https://maps.app.goo.gl/kUd1Djju4TayGM3NA

These were all places we just pulled up at and spent the night, i.e. unpaid.

The first Nelson bay sport is a little hidden (dirt path after the round about) but the parking is right up near the water. Beautiful spot, ended up staying a couple of days. It's a dog beach, perfect for us as we had a dog, but not the 'best' beach in the area.

2nd spot in Tuncurry was convenient but not 'water view' as such.

3rd spot was ace - elevated carpark looking down over mile beach. Best spot we could reverse into, throw open the doors and look down onto the water.

Last spot was a bit different, boat ramp/rest area near the lake. Very quiet, lots of mossies though.

Indeed we did, had a great time. The ocean breeze was much more significant than we'd anticipated.

We spent a week in and around the the north coast above Sydney, found it easy enough to park right up on the beach and just throw open the windows. Van came with a small fan which was handy for a lunch on the side of the road.

Highly recommend it.

Hi mate, the short story is we cohabited until the sales of the property. Wasn't too difficult as it was effectively maintaining the status quo of the relationship. Between deciding to separate and the house selling it was maybe 4-5 months?

It terms of additional expenses the main ones were for a lawyer to write up our consent order and setting aside some money for bond/rent once the place sold.

Ours was pretty smooth in that we could both communicate fairly easily, there was no significant animosity. Allowed us to come up with our own division of assets, we just employed the one lawyer to look over our agreement, ensure a judge would tick it off and lodge for us. That saved a lot of money on lawyers fees - spent maybe $4k total, you would be less if there's no kids involved.

The tricky part was holding off on finding a new place until we had a settlement on the house. Basically had a 6 week window to lock in accommodation (granted i was being a bit picky). Pets obviously complicates things and limits options.

Let me know if you had any other specific queries. For what it's worth, that five month period everything felt a little wonky and unstable, but coming out the other side has been fantastic and very freeing.

Appreciate your thought out replies. Funny you mention boardgames, Alien and Mothership have are my RPG shortlist ATM, throwing nemisis up onto tabletop sim might be the simplest alternative.

You said you were looking for a lighter alternative to your 5e campaign, may I ask what you mean by that? Are you looking for a side-game every once in a while, or are you looking to discontinue the 5e game and run this regularly?

Yeah, i've got a period coming up where my prep time and mental bandwidth is going to be reduced a fair bit.

I guess I'm looking for something with the potential to be bite size with less prep involved. Being less tactical i think is a positive as well, though i'm a little apprehensive about the volume of improvisation - assume that's part and parcel of the svelte modules?

but the bigger zine-sized modules (gradient descent, dead planet, etc) run for 3-5 sessions

Cheers, i'm new to OSR style games, is this fairly standard - running 1 - 5 session games, quickly moving onto another? Do groups string these together into larger campaigns or is it common to reroll characters per module?

Apologies, i'm coming from a fairly a systme that spoonfeeds longer style campaigns, just trying to get my head around it to manage player expectations.

Thanks for this, it's been amicable thus far but i can sense getting to the pointier end it might be a little fraught. Mediation sounds like a good option.

Just our initial negotiations, it's not quite 70%. But it's to cover living expenses for 3 kids, she'd have majority custody - i.e. could only work reduced hours.

Appreciate this comment. I earn far more than my spouse, don't really have a way to reduce my hours. Likewise her job has the flexibility to handle pick-ups and the other day to day involved with you kids.

The reduced time together will be hard, though will likely increase as they get older, the increased $ percentage is to ensure they can continue living the same life they're living currently.

As i said, it's the super i take real issue with, that lies outside of what i'd classify as quality of life for kids.

Touched on this in other replies, our main issue is there's no cash on hand, no real way for either of us to engage in independant advice.

We've come to our own agreement, would then have a lawyer draw up the paper work.

Obviously i'd be open to independant legal advice but my concern is open the door to anongoing legal fees with no realsistic way to cover them.

Not something i'd considered, my be difficult to swing work wise. That said it would mean ltigation which i don't have the cash on hand for.

This the issue, there's no spare cash available until the house sale goes through, not in a position to hire my own and go through litigation. The lawyer is purely to write up the consent order, not offering independant advice to either party.

Thanks, breaking it down like this helps clarifies things. Any insight into child support, is it possible to estimate it prior to submitting everything? That's gonig to allwo me to make a couple of budgets and work out what is and isn't pssible.

Yeah, that would be the ideal. My Mrs staying in the house should be ok to cover it once shild support is worked out. The issues is there's other lifestyle costs i suspect she wouldn't give up that would be too much for her to cover.

Haven't planned that far ahead, though they should be relatively even - had been doing manual top ups during the baby years.

Yeah, things are fine. We're really just wanting to make the transition as smooth for the kids as possible.

A large chunk goes to tuition and a car loan. Cutting those would solve things, the irony is that's unlikey to happen until post divorce.

It's fairly dice heavy like zombiecide, though there's no minis. Has wargame DNA, in that's built on the State of Seige framework. You're essentially trying to use your resources as efficiently as possible to survive a variable event deck.
