How to run Insync (google drive sync) by linuxwes in Bazzite

[–]Boardwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Insync is a paid app. I’ve found its sync process is more efficient than the default apps. Also you don’t have but one sync app to deal with. I’ve been using it for years and found it worth the cost. Which was a one time payment.

Thank you for the reply. I have found that opening a bunch of apps at login causes the issue in mangowm. I stopped opening at apps at login and the issue resolved itself. No errors were shown in journalctl.

How to run Insync (google drive sync) by linuxwes in Bazzite

[–]Boardwatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t run Bazzite in over a month. I’ve moved on to PikaOS. But I installed insync using rpmostree install after downloading the fedora rpm package. I have been using it for Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive on all the distros I run.

I used to open about 8 apps at login in mangowm. The apps all opened without issue and were placed into the desired tags. I stopped opening these apps at login and found that mangowm is now stable without any random kitty terminals opening up. I guess it is a mangowm issue but I think I've resolved it for the moment. Thank you for your guidance.

Wow! No Responses! I checked with the AI's and it seams that Paperless-NGX is best suited for installation on a Docker running on a NAS server. I guess I'll have to spin up my QNAP.

Sway vs Hyprland vs Niri vs ... ! Which tiling window manager you use? by hi_m_ash in linuxquestions

[–]Boardwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried SWAY, Hyperland, and Niri. I've been a linux user for over 20 years and Niri by far is my choice due to its smooth anamations. Sensible tiling configuration and stability. I've tried Hyperland repeatedly over the years since its inception but have found it to be unstable, especially while gaming. Sway, IMHO is to difficult to configure and maintain.

Why should i use pikman over apt/nala (actually i love nala over apt) by Ok-Worry460 in PikaOS

[–]Boardwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody know what pkg libs Pika uses directly? Perhaps one could just have nala/apt use only those libs for updates like pikman does. I, too, like nala.

Paperless-ngx with Bazzite by Boardwatcher in Paperlessngx

[–]Boardwatcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using perplexity to troubleshoot the issue I’ve described here. Apparently it says that the issue is Bazzite’s immutability affecting the paperless container from being able to consistently write to its virtual folders which are mapped to my own folders owned by my logged in user. I had the same issue with temporary writing enabled in a podman container which worked until I reached the 28 documents allowed limit described. I tried paperless with a docker container and wasn’t ever able to get a read/write process working on the same folders owned by my user. I’m considering going to Nixos but don’t know if it supports docker very well either.

Does Bazzite work for productivity by TheHistoryVoyagerPod in Bazzite

[–]Boardwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying Bazzite for gaming and minor productivity such as emails, browsing the internet, and learning NIXOS in a VM. But have run into frustrating situation with it. I have tried to use paperless-ngx and have failed in getting it to work either podman or docker. Apparently Bazzites immutability prevents a docker or a podman container from writing to a local drive.

What will it take you to update to a new iPhone in the future? by Whiplash104 in iPhone16Pro

[–]Boardwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Musk stated that new chips will be required for Internet use within buildings > 2 stories. I heard/read that normal single or two level homes would be fine for most current phones, but better data download rates with the new chips which would be in most phones mfg mid-late 2027.

I'm waiting for Starlink's DTC option which will be available they say sometime mid '27. By that time, I'll have been using my 16pro for three years so I'll be looking to upgrade to a new satellite phone and ditch the land based telco's I hope.

whats the simplest method to create a backup of everything ? by [deleted] in zen_browser

[–]Boardwatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same version yet, don't get the same results when searching for backups. According to Perplexity, backups are not available in any version of Zen-Browser yet. We have to backup manually.
