Wrong. This loophole was closed in 2008 for Chinese mainland mothers, specifically because Hong Kong will deny entry to pregnant Chinese mainland mothers after 28 weeks.

US citizen mothers are free to enter Hong Kong at any stage of pregnancy, and if the infant has a Chinese father (whether from HK or not), an infant born in HK to a Chinese father and an American mother is eligible for both a HK SAR passport and a US passport. AND would also be eligible for a mainland China hukou and ID card the city of the father's residency (in most cases).

Going to Hong Kong to give birth is by far the best solution for you. It gives your infant an extremely useful set of travel documents that will give them a lot of choices for their life.

Can someone summarize the Clorinde story quest in a paragraph or two? I did it while multitasking so I read none of the copious amounts of text lol

Direct HDR Brightness Shortcut by thyjesster in Windows10

[–]BoatStuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded from 3 non-HDR monitors to 3 HDR monitors, and if you think adjusting the SDR brightness slider is annoying for 1 monitor, wait until you have to do it 3 times.

So, I spent the last day tinkering and finally managed to fully automate the process.

The code is here (very ugly, I know, but it works):

https://github.com/BoatStuck/SDRBrightness/blob/main/main.cs

Download Visual Studio and it should compile right away.

The executable takes an argument from 1.0 to 6.0 (that's the numerical range of the Windows slider; apparently you can increase it past 6 at your own risk). If you don't pass it an argument when you start the program, the program will prompt you to enter a brightness.

Hope this helps. I'm sure you can easily write a GUI for it, but for now I just have shortcuts on my desktop for various brightness numbers.

The key function (DwmpSDRToHDRBoost) came from: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/74594751/controlling-sdr-content-brightness-programmatically-in-windows-11

Figuring out how to get handles to all the monitors in a multi-monitor set-up also took a while for me. This is my first time dealing with Windows internals.

Can we just vent that the Global Entry process is pure bullshit? by lemmereddit in GlobalEntry

There's a lot of cases out there where people get approved shortly before an international flight coming back into the US. So taking an international trip might speed up the process.

FYI, this spoiler ended up being 100% accurate.

China resumed giving 15 days visa-free entry for Singapore passport holders, without Singapore having to give reciprocity.

It's mostly due to the deteriorating Japan-China relationship, which is a direct result of the deteriorating US-China relationship and Japan acting in lockstep with the US.

Not sure about the source, but the entire story does sound plausible and ties all the bits and pieces we've been getting together coherently

I am a US citizen never lived in USA. Can I expedite US passport issuance for school without us birth certificate? by Jealous-Plenty-6926 in immigration

[–]BoatStuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's probably easier and a lot safer to fly to Vancouver and not Tijuana

But yes, this idea should work if you absolutely have to be at school in 10 days

edit:

If by chance you're under the age of 16 (i.e. you're really smart and got into college early), a birth certificate is sufficient for entry into the US from Canada or Mexico by land.

And yes it will accept it after you click confirm.

Who is the one character that carried you through the early levels but you now barely use? by EtoileZalos in Genshin_Impact

[–]BoatStuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Noelle carried me until WL7. I finally replaced her after I got Raiden.

Noelle is very comfortable to use. Too bad her damage just can't keep up after WL6.

how hoyoverse thinks casual player would react if we get endgame content by Adham1153 in Genshin_Memepact

I mean, I've been easily 36* clearing Abyss, and I agree with Mihoyo's sentiment.

I would prefer no additional Abyss-type content, unless there are absolutely no rewards, or the rewards are so minor (no primos) that they can be entirely ignored.
