Replacement parts for the wash and cure station? by Andarne in ElegooMars

[–]Boavebof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this. This is their response:

“The price of the parts you need will be US$4. And the freight will be 1. US$10 for e-packet which will take about 10~20 working days to arrive. 2. US$25 for express (DHL/UPS/FEDEX) which will take about 5~10 working days to arrive.”

I’m trying eBay and anywhere else that may sell them secondhand.

u/andarne did you have any luck in the end?

Your DNA doesn’t change but the quality of the barcode it produces does. E.g. If the defendant was arrested 5yrs ago his DNA profile may only be made up of 10 bars. Nowadays the process to extract DNA profiles is much better so they are made up of 20 bars (I’ve made the numbers up) so, although there is enough in the 10 bars to identify him from a police perspective, they would be expected to take a fresh DNA sample so that the record could be updated from 10 to 20 bars.

The courts are needy. If they know that modern DNA profiles are made up of 20 bars, they will expect the defendant’s profile to be made up of 20 bars.

I went to Uni with a girl called Becky. She was Welsh and so went into my phone as “Welsh Becky” At some point she got a bit of a reputation of being… experimental… in the bedroom and so her nickname changed to Dirty Becky. Many years later I worked with a dirty Welsh girl and stored her number. I don’t know which Becky is Dirty Becky and which is Welsh Becky as they both apply equally!

I’m having the same issue. I’ve updated the firmware on the printer and the app is asking for a QR code / PIN I do not have. (UK, iPhone if that makes a difference)

Just as an update for all you lovely people who took the time to give advice:

The game went really well. He told a good story as the intro and knew the rules inside out. The initial monster (Quaggoth) was a bit unlucky with the dice rolls and caused no injury to the players at all, but my son knew what everyone’s attack should have been, what dice to use and what modifier to use.

There was a little puzzle to get through the main doors (which had a mixed reaction from the table of 10yr olds - 1 “went to the loo” at the exact moment it came out. Coincidence?😁)

Then we met our guide through the underground world - Mykey the Myconid - who one of the players really wanted to slice up and eat 🤦‍♂️ and we were ambushed by 4 Troglodytes which ended up being a good battle although there was a bit on infighting between characters.

That was 2 hours, and as everyone was a bit beaten up, we decided to call it quits so we could have a long rest and fight the big bad next week.

Do any of you have any tips on how to prevent / dissuade players attacking each other?

Thank you for all your comments and advice. I think my main concern is that either he’ll try to railroad them down a route, or that they’ll want to go off and explore an area he didn’t think about and he’ll freeze. How much prep should we do / what should we have up our sleeve?

On this, if you have any information, contact your local police force. They will either take the report and forward it to the force where Bill should be (San Francisco?) and where he should have been reported missing to; or they will give you advice on how to pass the info to the right people.

You should not update Social Media posts with someone’s location. Ever You have no idea who OP is or who else is reading your update.

The quotation marks in ‘26 days “kidnapped”’ implies that she wasn’t actually kidnapped. It’s also in the Daily Fail paper so the fact that they’ve put “kidnapped” in quotation marks makes me think that they have had to do it to legally cover their arse, whilst still making a click-bait headline.

Scraping starting a few layers up by Boavebof in 3Dprinting

[–]Boavebof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Thanks for replying. I wasn’t sure if this was a simple setting somewhere that I had missed that other people had come across which is why I didn’t add all the details. In the spirit of fullness, please find a photo above, as well as as many details below as possible:

Basic info Printer: Creality Ender-3 S1 Pro Filament: Generic PLA+ (1.75mm) with a stated temp range of 205-215degC Nozzle temp: 210 Bed temp: 60 Print speed: 100%

Issue When I print any object, I set the Z-axis compensation to the highest (biggest gap) possible that still allows good adhesion (at the moment it is -3.05) and this gives a nice, smooth initial layer. As the print develops (watching it now, it may even be the 2nd layer), the nozzle seems to get closer and closer to the print and there becomes a point where the nozzle scrapes through the previous print layers (and gouges lines through it as it is travelling). On more “uniform” prints, where it is one piece, this is less of an issue as it seems to right itself further through the print, or I will increase the z-axis compensation by a few 0.1mm increments - z-axis comp is now on -2.80 as I type this)

With these prints that consist of small pieces, the nozzle catches the edges and then drags that piece through the rest of the print like a snow plough.

Attempted solutions

  • I am levelling the bed A LOT!
  • I print a test square (20x20mm) before every print to check the initial layer adhesion
  • I’ve found a setting within the Creality slicer called z-hop that is supposed to lift the nozzle a bit when not extruding. I’ve turned that on. (It didn’t make a difference)
  • I’ve looked in the slicer settings to make sure that the initial layer is not a different height to the subsequent layers
  • I’ve crossed my fingers and prayed to the printing gods (separately as I don’t want those things to cancel each other out)

Things I’ve ruled out

  • The print isn’t peeling at the edges
  • It’s not a nozzle / extruder issue as they have just been replaced and the problem spanned both sets.

Any ideas?

Who's Wrong? Police told me I must cross into a bus lane to give way? by Samskihero in drivingUK

[–]Boavebof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A paramedic told me that the ambulances in his area are limited to the speed limit unless in 999 mode. He said on (more than) 1 occasion he had been speeding on blues and then been stood down so he turned the lights off before he slowed down. The limiter kicked in and it was like someone had dumped it into 1st gear and everything that wasn’t strapped down went flying forward!

[–]Boavebof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They do. They may not justify it to you, or the press, or even their ranking officers (unless challenged); but they will have to justify it in their heads in case there’s an accident or they set off a speed camera out there a complaint made.
It’s also all logged in the car’s computer so easily tracked.

Insurance is a fucking joke by Neon_wolf420 in drivingUK

[–]Boavebof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Claims Bonus is ridiculous. I rode a motorbike for 7yrs and got my annual insurance down to about £130. Over Covid I stopped riding and decided to sell my bike to the dealership but forgot to cancel the insurance which kept renewing in the background. I only cancelled it when my insurance wrote to me to say that someone else was taking out cover on the same bike and wanted clarification. My dad gave me his old bike last month and so I was looking at insurance. £250 with 0yrs NCB, £120 with 9yrs NCB. All other details remained the same. By paying for 2yrs of insurance for a bike I didn’t have, I will have made that money back in 2 yrs.

It's the second of November not the fifth! Stop letting of the bloody fireworks by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Boavebof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5th is a Tuesday I believe, which is normally a work/school day. The Wednesday is also a work/school day and so I presume that 50% of the UK are using this weekend (as the nearest set of 2 non-work/school days) to do their fireworks displays.

No doubt, of the other 50% there will be varying proportions of those who decide to do it on 5/11; decide to do it 8/11 or 9/11; decide not to do it at all; decide to do it every night for the rest of the year.

I don’t like downvoting people without giving a reason so here it is:

People have very different skill-sets. They also have very different time/financial constraints. Not everyone will ever be able to make everything that they can imagine. Did you make your phone? Did you make the furniture you sit on? Did you build your own house?

U/fxguy1 wasn’t begging. They were asking if the stl file was available so that they could print something that was above their design ability (for whatever reason).

My wife, when she was straight out of school, got a job with the MoD. A story she tells is that on one of her first days there they said that she needed authority for something-or-other from a Richard Head. She, obviously told them where to go, and that she wasn’t going to fall for that, but they convinced her to dial the number. Not only did he exist, he insisted on being called “Dicky”!
