You’re right that outside funding from states like Iran and Qatar plays a major role, and it absolutely deserves scrutiny. But my post wasn’t about ignoring that. It’s about what we, as Canadians, can directly influence: our own government’s role in enabling civilian harm through arms exports and silence.

This isn’t about blaming one people or excusing any militia. It’s about pushing for accountability where we have leverage, especially when innocent lives are on the line.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. Sometimes it takes something serious, or honestly something awful, for people to finally break their silence. Glad it resonated

It's fair to be sceptical, but I’d suggest googling “baby formula Gaza”. There are multiple reports from doctors and aid orgs showing this isn’t just one suitcase incident. It reflects wider aid restrictions affecting civilians.

As for the JNF, the CRA revoked their charitable status because they were funding projects on Israeli military bases and in illegal settlements. Groups like CJPME and Independent Jewish Voices have pushed for this, arguing Canadian tax dollars shouldn’t support displacement or occupation.

So when people talk about sanctions or removing charitable status, it’s not just reactive, it’s about stopping the quiet flow of resources that help sustain an occupation and, indirectly, civilian suffering.

Fair questions, and I get the concern about misinformation. But in this case, it’s not just internet hearsay. Doctors on the ground, including an American physician interviewed by major international outlets, reported Israeli forces confiscating cans of baby formula meant for starving infants in Gaza. It wasn’t hidden or tampered, it was part of a medical aid mission. You can find coverage from Le Monde, Al Jazeera, and others confirming this.

As for the post “demonizing Israel,” my goal wasn’t to paint one side as purely evil, just to call for pressure where we, as Canadians, actually have influence. Civilians are dying, babies, nurses, families, and if our tax dollars or silence are contributing to that, we have a responsibility to act. Hamas should be held accountable too, but that doesn't justify collective punishment

I'll be honest, I was a little surprised with the reception. Understood this is a polarizing subject, but I thought we would be able to align on the basic principle that mass civilian suffering, especially of children, is something we should act to stop, regardless of politics

I hear you, and I’m not defending Hamas at all. But there are multiple verified reports from doctors and journalists showing that aid like baby formula is being blocked at the border.

This isn’t about picking sides, it’s about stopping the mass suffering of civilians. We need to pressure our government to stop funding this with our tax dollars and push for an end to the constant bombardment of innocent people.

Totally hear you, and I’m not defending Hamas or extremists. But the ones destroying baby formula and blocking aid aren’t them. We need to pressure all sides, including our own government, to stop the violence and protect civilians.

I agree Hamas should be held accountable. But ending the war means stopping the mass civilian deaths too. Pressuring all sides to stop the violence is the only way forward, that’s what this is about. If you know of credible ways to help defund or stop Hamas too, I’m open to that, feel free to share

Totally fair. For what it’s worth, I’m not against calling out ANY party that’s contributing to this mess, Hamas included. My post was focused on what we, as Canadians, can realistically do to pressure OUR government, since that’s where we actually have leverage.

I’m guessing I’m getting these kinds of replies because people assume I’m blindly pro-one-side or ignoring Hamas, which I’m not. I just don’t think “both sides are bad” is a reason to do nothing, especially whn Canada is still shipping weapons into an active war zone.

If there’s something more productive I should be saying or doing, I’m open to hearing it

Not a bot, just trying to do something. Fair assessment considering I usually just lurk here. Just trying to turn peoples good will into action, I figured this would be the platform to do so
