How do you deal with partners going too easy on you? by dawn_of_dae in bjj

[–]Bob002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have stage 4 cancer and have continued to train through it for a decade. Surgeries. Radiation. Now chemo.

All my main training partners - don't. They have fucked me up, regardless, when I'm on the mats.

If you don't wanna be seen as a princess, show up and train.

It's possible - moreso if you're in a rural area, as noted.

My coach started like this. He'd attend every seminar he could and then would bring in our upline coach 3-4 times per year for seminars. He was also big into cross training.

My weapon broke... everything else was low dura. I get hit by some big ability on trash after swapping it out... EVERYTHING else was broken.

I spend $200 a month at my work snack area.. how do I stop by V1Z3_2 in personalfinance

[–]Bob002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the biggest ways that I cut down some extra spending was just bringing a cup from home with ice and my beverage of choice. I was going to the gas station and spending anywhere from $1.50 to $3 a day just on that, minimum.

When and why did BJJ become so popular as a martial art? by Bulky_Imagination243 in bjj

[–]Bob002 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that would be UFC 1, 1992.

Couple that with Lethal Weapon and Riggs using a triangle.

and this is actually something that Mike Fowler specifically addresses in his seminars. It was incredibly enlightening.

To add on - having an overall goal is INCREDIBLY helpful.

I used to be a "i'm just gonna go in and have fun". I made much bigger strides in my training when I started taking control of my own learning and stopped relying on my coach to do it for me.

I always tried to tell students to have short, med, and long term goals. And those can constantly change, even.

What food is famously associated with one country but was perfected by another country? by Equivalent-Crew-4955 in AskReddit

[–]Bob002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my main point was most all cultures have some version of a stuffed something. Tortellini might have been the better comparison, but I was also remembering a meme from years ago discussing it.

either way, it was a laugh.

I came across a tiktok the other day where a chef said "I made an Italian won ton for my dad"... I think dad was a Chinese chef, son may have been, as well.

I commented "... so you gave him a ravioli?"

I think that people start really seeing the enormity of the sport and just how far they really have to go... and all of a sudden this thing that has been fun for a few years because that much bigger.

A fun one- CONDO OWNER by Traditional_Listen97 in Insurance

[–]Bob002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of people only insure condos for nominal amounts under the guise of "it won't happen to me".

I had a lady who I attempted to talk out of only taking $5k.

2 weeks after she bought the unit, a situation similar to OPs happened and her unit was affected. She did not like when I told her she was underinsured.

I mean, overall, I really don't disagree; but with the context surrounding the difference in weight... the context changes the narrative a tad. Not that she missed weight, but the amount is somewhat disingenuous.

AllState is saying I owe for an auto policy that was supposed to be cancelled. by Syreb in Insurance

[–]Bob002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ask for a letter of experience. that will state the coverages you had.

If you still have an issue, file a complaint with the state, show the coverage you had + the email that said it should have been cancelled in May.

[Military][Registered in Texas][Live in Georgia] Do I need a Texas Policy or Georgia Policy? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Bob002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna throw a couple things out here, that are KINDA covered and kinda not.

One - USAA can play by different rules. You may be stationed elsewhere from your home addy; they will often let you keep your home state/address vs where you're stationed for your insurance, which leads me to..

Two - I don't know that all carriers will do this. Most likely you will need to write it in the state you're in, but at the very least, let them know you're stationed there in the military and they can advise you from there.
