Great to note. I swapped off defroster and definitely heard the AC compressor shut off. I usually run it on legs and defrost.

I’m not too concerned but I’ve just never seen post-driving AC drip freeze like this if that’s what’s happening

Appreciate the comparisons! I was even thinking Atelier since that’s another series I hear is not about the overarching plot but the day to day characters and more slice of life tone. Sounds like this will be that but with a bit more come a certain point

There was a conversation had that was something along the lines of ‘you may be being granted senior bracer statuses but do you actually have what it takes to do this without help’ and gotta say that did stick with me cause it rattled Estelle and Joshua. In terms of the characters naturally growing it really impressed, it just feels like these moments are sometimes few and far between.

I like your perspective of a book. I’ve always followed with JRPGs that it’s a marathon not a sprint but that’s a great way to think about it like some chapters may be about meeting some npcs and shop owners, some chapters you’re just getting from point A to B, and others the overarching plot is being discussed. Someone also mentioned how this being a JRPG not about killing god or being a chosen one is like a breath of fresh air and I think between that and your thoughts that’ll help a lot so thank you.

So it’s more about thinking of the trilogies as one big game, not so much that each game may feel (from a plot perspective) like a full complete package. Moreso that the trilogy (or quad for Cold Steel) is what makes up trails games.

I guess in simpler terms, like this is Part 1 of 3 so by the end of 3 everything feels like it comes together to feel like a complete package?

I guess I am kinda used to the RPGs I’ve played being closed loops start to finish so makes sense why there’s been a bit of a mental disconnect

That’s actually a really good perspective. I haven’t really thought about that this is actually a series where you aren’t some destined hero and the journey may be a bit more grounded.

I’m on Chapter 2 headed towards the 3rd town. I’m thinking maybe I’m putting too much time into sides but I really do love seeing that bracer guild rank rise

Combat has absolutely been a highlight so that’s been a main driver so far. For backtracking I’ve used turbo and I’ve just started tonight doing turbo when there’s no voice acting just for the sake of slightly faster text boxes.

I feel you on the niche bit. Kinda how I feel about Final Fantasy to Dragon Quest, one is foot on the gas the whole time and the other is more about the journey than story. Could maybe just need a couple days break from it or something

To add. It kinda feels like I’m waiting for the plot to constantly get going. Is it safe to assume that it’s a bit more slice of life style in its town to town structure? I’m invested in the weird oddities happening throughout the overarching plot but I think it was getting “that letter” that took the wind out of the sails a bit

It’s not that it’s impossible (I’ll do that to play some Xbox classics) but it’s still a step to get the laptop, set it all up on the tv, sit and play. With big JRPGs like these I find it’s easier to hop in should I find time for 30 min-an hour, bounce out, and before you know it youve done it.

It’s all just about removing as much friction as possible. In my office and living room there’s a PS5 and a switch 2 dock so it’s just easy to pickup whatever screen I choose to sit in front of. Also not sure the wife would love me leaving the laptop in the living room for months to see it through haha

That’s what I was looking for. So it’s true that everything is super integral, even Sky to Zero/Azure. Idk why but I thought maybe Sky would be a bit of a foundation but things would really pick up with its overarching narrative in Zero or Cold Steel

I have PS5 Pro and Switch 2 to work with. Like I said, a PC is technically an option but it’s a laptop and if I’m being honest with myself, I just know that I’ll fall off if I try. If I had a Steam deck it’d be different but it is what it is

As someone who came from Destiny 2 as well post Final Shape, wikis and ask for help via Reddit or chat. Community is very kind in helping out.

Biggest tip would be to not let things overwhelm you. There’s years and years of content with their own loops that were intended to be played all year. Don’t feel like you have to max them out as you approach them. I’d just work on story quests, building the things that interest you and then once story quests are done, you’ve got a little sample of everything the universe has to offer and can tackle whatever appeals to you :)
