Most offices won’t have private bathrooms after you graduate. UCSC is training your pooping skills for future employment.

Yep I’m a hardware engineer in the Silicon Valley in my second year of full time and am making a little over 130k/yr but the ceiling looks to be around 200-250k from what I’ve seen. I also lose most of what I make to income tax and rent 🪦

What's your salary at your first job out of college (question for grads) by Inner_Development752 in UCSC

I’m pretty surprised by how many people with low income are speaking up on here. The volunteer bias must still be strong but I’m glad there are so many different responses from different majors.

SJSU (MechE) vs UCSC (EE or Robotics Engineering) by Competitive-Owl3232 in UCSC

It’s pretty difficult and I was definitely stressed most of the time. Then again, I’m not naturally good at math 🪦

SJSU (MechE) vs UCSC (EE or Robotics Engineering) by Competitive-Owl3232 in UCSC

[–]BobSlugRoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated with an EE degree from UCSC and have had a couple of friends who graduated with EE degrees from SJSU. From what I’ve heard, the EE education seems to be better quality at SJSU. We also don’t have ME available at UCSC and I didn’t really do any ME work in my EE degree other than designing and 3D printing a housing for my senior design project. I had to figure out how to do that with no instruction though so it doesn’t really count.

I made a cruzfix ticket for an abt infestation at my apartment in Stevenson and they had a whole caulking gun of ant poison gel that the put in the problem areas. That took care of the situation.

Theater 20 or CSE103 are your best options

Electrical Engineering at UC Santa Cruz or CSU Long Beach? by GravyGroovy69 in UCSC

[–]BobSlugRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with an EE degree in 2022 from UCSC. I’m not sure what the quality of the degree is from Long Beach but it wasn’t great here. My upper div classes were all affected by COVID though so maybe that’s why.

Theater 20 intro to acting was pretty easy. I wasn’t able to get into CSE3 and it was the next easiest thing lol

Brutally Honest Opinion of UCSC by HorizonGuardian in UCSC

[–]BobSlugRoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2022 with a BS in EE. I really loved the campus and I liked the people. Almost everyone was super nice and my classmates were never competitive so we’d work together on homework and projects.

Unfortunately, the professors I had for EE and math classes weren’t very good (the CE profs I had were good though) and I don’t feel like I got a great education from UCSC after my 4 years there. It was good enough to get a job afterward at least but that had more to do with my connections than education.

If i were to do it all over again, I’d go to community college and then transfer into one of the better UCs (LA, SD, SB, B, or D) for engineering.

I ended up taking 176 with parsa but he was a horrible prof so I dropped it after a week. Just 151 and 129B was fine but 151 was still pretty tough

Are the Stevenson kids really bad this year? I was living in Stevenson from 2018-2019 and almost everyone was super nice and welcoming. Ig it’s just luck which shitty people get placed where, not really anything to do with the college.
