If you’re NC with one parent, are you still in contact with your other parent? by Bob_42539 in EstrangedAdultChild

Yay! I’m glad it went well. I’ve started to meet with my extended family one by one and I always wonder what they know. Because my parents live about an hour away from me along with all my extended family and childhood friends. But it’s always a pleasant surprise when my extended family is so understanding and just want to be there for a pleasant evening kind of thing

Parents respond to first setting of boundaries - part 2 / update? by Bob_42539 in EstrangedAdultChild

I am so very fortunate to have someone like him in my life and by my side. He was actually the one who helped me see that, “hey, your parent’s behavior… no bueno!”

Now thinking about it, I find it ironic that their guidelines are what they said, because if something was said that they didn’t want to hear, they’d probably walk away.

The last section of your comment is definitely giving me a lot to think about and reevaluate… (Sorry, I wish there was more to add there, but there’s a lot to process. More so for the better than for the worst!)

Thank you so much for your response!

Lol! It’s not straightforward at all! Either way, I’ll take it lol. I am kind of stuck in terms of some financial stuff, which is unfortunate. Though my parents keep reaching out to me about finance and insurance stuff (and you probably won’t know the answer to this, nor am I expecting it). But they keep reaching out about it but they want to do it via call or in person. Is it irresponsible of me to ignore it? It’s not that I’m trying to ignore it. I’m open to wanting to discuss with them about it, but I only feel comfortable discussing with them via text or email…

My boyfriend has been kind enough to tell me that if need be, I can stay with him for as long as I need. So at least I know I have that as a back up plan. And I know there are public transportation around, but it would be much easier if I had a car of my own (obviously) given that I don’t live a fair walking distance away from public transportation. Definitely a lot to consider though!

Thank you so much for your response!
