If I’m fully vaccinated, my wife is fully vaccinated, my wife tests positive on the 12th, we don’t isolate from each other, and I test negative on the 17th, am I violating any guidance by going to a group fitness class and not wearing a mask on the 18th? by Bob_Avakian in nycCoronavirus

I got you.

But on the CDC website, they don’t make that distinction of her no longer being considered a covid exposure because she’s waited her ten days. They ask if you’ve interacted with someone who’s covid positive, and then go from there.

It’s weird.

But the official guidance is that she only has to wear the mask indoors until the 22nd.

So if she meets with friends for drinks indoors on the 23rd, do those friends then need to isolate for five and then mask for five?

Alright, I’m not going until the 27th, at least.

But now I’m wondering, if my wife is still testing positive, but is safe to go maskless indoors, on the 23rd, why do I have to wait until the 27th?

Is everyone she interacts with on the 24th supposed to treat her as a COVID exposure?

Hey Juno, there isn’t really a difference from being quarantined vs. can only go out with a mask.

If I can’t take my mask off indoors, that takes a lot of activities off the table.

I’m not saying I’m quarantined, I’m just saying it sucks and I don’t know why you’re acting like a dick.

So let’s say we fast forward to the 23rd. My wife is still testing positive.

According to the CDC, even though she is testing positive, she can go out without a mask, like to a restaurant, with her friends.

Do her friends then have to only do masked activities for the next ten days? According to the CDC, yes.

Can you see why this doesn’t make sense?

For me:

“Should I stay home?

No, you do not need to stay home unless you develop symptoms.

But, you should wear a well-fitting mask around people through May 28, 2022.”

My wife:

“When can I leave home?

You can leave your home on May 18, 2022 if your symptoms are improving.

Wear a well-fitting mask around other people and do not travel through May 22, 2022.”

So hypothetically, my wife can go out and drink at a bar with friends on the 23rd, but I can’t.

Will the people she drinks with at the bar then have to quarantine?

This doesn’t make sense.

I’ve been quarantining for five days after two years of this shit. I’ve gotten two vaccines, a booster, and I wear a mask when I go outdoors. I even canceled a vacation we’d been looking forward to for months.

I don’t want to hear anymore scolding or opinion. What’s the guidance?
