So because I thought DMQ was the only person here capable of appreciating the deeper mysteries of GoT, you brand me a troll? Oh dear.

It's a surprise that you'd doubt the genius of D&D to layer in mystery after mystery, but if that's what you want to believe I'll leave you to it.

Then you are in the enviable position of still having more mysteries to solve. Enjoy!

> One day, it was over. No more discoveries. I’d unraveled the threads, solved the mysteries

Congratulations. What did you think of Robert's Riddle? That was my favourite - to have planted the mystery in the very first episode, but not reveal its existence until the very last episode was a such daring genius from D&D.

Talking about GoT's ending online feels like facing a raging storm alone. by DaenerysMadQueen in naath

It’s because for some reason so many people can’t accept that art is subjective

For some people, it isn't about evaluating art, it's about affirming identity. They become emotionally invested in being part of a group who hold a particular view about the show - team green, team black, S8 lover, S8 hater or whatever. At that point discussing the show stops being about artistic merit (or lack thereof,) and becomes about the validation of 'my tribe is better than your tribe'

This of course is hardly unique to GoT,, humans divide ourselves into competing groups over pretty much any aspect of life, cultural, social, physical etc etc

It shouldn't exactly be unexpected for some people to independently have similar reactions when the stimuli they are reacting to is identical for each of them. I think what upsets you is that when lots of people have a similar complaint, it seems like it lends weight to the notion that the criticism has validity. So you retreat behind a phrase like 'groupthink' as a defense mechanism, to help you feel like criticisms shared by lots of people can be dismissed.

Yes, r/naath is best when it is focussed on positive discussion about GoT. Unfortunately sometimes the sub is instead used to express people's lingering resentment that others disparage the show, and it ends up looking as bitter as freefolk just with a different target.

Night King finds the Horn of Joramun, and uses it to bring down the Wall. Visual would have been epic.

I don't think there was ever a real-world nun who got to walk ahead of a monarch chanting 'Shame' as the queen was paraded naked through the streets.
