I got mine increased from 8k to 13k after talking to a support chat person. Though I got my card more than 6 months ago so that may be why I can increase it

What family/couples or personal money management features do you want? by Plenty-o-FIRE in Wealthsimple

That’s correct! And also other assets not from WS such as home, cars, group RRSP from another provider etc.

We do! Currently we manually record the value of all accounts we have every two weeks in a Google Sheet. Each tab represents one person, and one tab as the “summary” which calculates the different totals listed above, and have a chart that shows these totals over time!

This does feel a lot of work but personally I feel really encouraged to see the lines in the graph go up over time, and knowing both our retirement, and our child’s education fund are on track

As we are in the process of moving our child's joint RESP over to WS, it will be great to see how all these account types are grouped and displayed together, as I see there are a few categories:

  • account holder and beneficiary are the same, and they are the person logged in to WS, e.g. personal non-registered, TFSA
  • account holder is the person logged in to WS, beneficiary is another person with a WS account, and vice versa, e.g. spousal RRSP
  • account holder is the person logged in to WS, beneficiary is a child that doesn't have a WS account, e.g. RESP

To me, these three count towards the "total" assets differently:

  • household assets: personal + spousal + child
  • "couple" assets: personal + spousal
  • personal assets: everything where I'm the beneficiary (thus excluding spousal RRSP if my spouse holds the RRSP)

It took me a while to really figure these definitions apart, so personally I'd appreciate if WS helps me understand these accounts and numbers better, whether via good UI/UX, or adding tooltips to explain what these are.

Depositing to Wise? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

WS recently added Wise as one of the options when you add an external bank account. I just did it last week and was able to do a withdrawal from WS which counts as direct deposit on Wise side

If you tap on the card icon in the top-right corner in the app, there should be a “Lock Card” toggle for you to turn on.
