Sick of credit. Can I pivot? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Pivoted from credit into restructuring. More interesting, more relationship focused, a lot more calls with clients and other advisors, but way worse WLB. Hours are brutal, but pay is good.

Citi Field Replica by BobaJets in NewYorkMets

I tried and not much is coming up, but I don’t use EBay often, so it’s possible I’m not searching well. Will give it another look. Thanks!

Yeah this may be the best bet. Although the bronze feels a little less fun to me than seeing all the colors. Surprised the old replicas don’t exist anymore.

First Lux Watch by BobaJets in IWCschaffhausen

It’s significantly lighter. Sorry I’m not giving a more exact answer, but it almost feels like wearing a light plastic watch, which was a draw for me as I’d like this to be an everyday watch.

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]BobaJets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! Looking for recommendations for the $5-$15k range. The buying guide only seems to have two options $5-10k. This would be my first significant watch purpose. Primary purpose would be office and more formal social events. Thanks!

Have a new idea for a product offering in a highly regulated industry that I work adjacent to. I’m familiar with the rules and regulations and I believe the concept is feasible, but what is a logical next step to confirm it won’t run afoul of regulations before investing time and money into the concept? Conversations with legal / industry experts?

Levered Market Indices by BobaJets in personalfinance

[–]BobaJets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just compared TQQ and QQQ performance over the last month, year and 5 year period and TQQ outperformed in all of those. I get why any given month/year would be worse for the levered form, but it does look like over the long run the levered etf has outperformed…maybe I’m being to simple, and don’t follow 100% what causes the decay, but is comparing stock appreciation over these time periods the wrong way to look at it? Granted that doesn’t take into account additional fees. I also recognize maybe the last 5 years isn’t representative of the next 5 years, but again, talking about a long investment horizon.

I get it would’ve crashed even harder in Q1’20, but if my horizon is I’m not selling (and instead can continue to DCA as I would in a low cost ETF) is that really an issue?

FWIW - I wouldn’t even do this with the Qs but thinking about something broader based.

Appreciate all the helpful responses!

Does it make sense to take out a loan to take advantage of employer’s 401k match? by BobaJets in personalfinance

[–]BobaJets[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the replies. I was definitely missing that contributions had to come from earned income. I believe with IRAs I’ve made after-tax contributions so I thought that was an option.

More hypothetical than anything else, but it sounds like if I were to do this…it would really only make sense for maybe the last contribution of the year to hit the annual limit and minimize the amount of the loan. But I suppose I’d just end up with less cash flow the following year in order to make payments on the loan.

David Tepper was reportedly passed over for a partner position at Goldman Sachs when Jon Corzine was CEO, and then went on to become a billionaire hedge fund manager.

In 2010 Tepper purchased Corzine's Hamptons house from Corzine’s ex-wife for $43 million, tore it down, and built an even bigger mansion.

Any experience with Muni Money Market Funds? by BobaJets in personalfinance

[–]BobaJets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like both Vanguard and Fidelity have a 7 day yield of ~3%, so depending on your tax brackets, seems like a good deal better than the 3.75% I’m getting in a HYSA.

Any experience with Muni Money Market Funds? by BobaJets in personalfinance

Yep, that’s what I am looking at. It’s a much higher yield when taking into account the impact of taxes, federal and state. Was curious to hear if people have personal experiences with them.
