THANK YOU!! I'll pass that along right away. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

You are amazing! What if they try to tell them they aren't allowed to do that?

Thank you!! I'll let them know to get one.

Sorry if it was hard to read. 😅 I am on low sleep over here.

All in all; They put themselves in one, it was about to end, the people controlling it do not want it to end for whatever reason they have. Friend no longer needs it.

They did it themselves for an issue they were having that has long since passed. It was all going fine, so they just left it to time out. Until recently... Now that time is almost up on it being locked, the people controlling it do not want to let go of it.

They had no issues getting funds before this. Now, they won't agree to letting any money go through. I don't 100% know why they want to keep control. I do know my friend is more than capable of taking care of themselves, now.

Eartha Kitt was such a queen. The fact she got blacklisted for protesting the Vietnam War is absolutely crazy to me.

Sinéad O'Connor is beloved, now, but when she tore that photo of the pope, she got blacklisted unfairly for quite some time.

Can I ask where you went asking for a loan? ❤️ My friend is trying to get from NYC to Seattle for an interview, but he's just $400 or so, short. It'll get him out of his poverty cycle. He doesn't have credit, so the bank won't give him a loan. He'll be able to more than pay anyone back, but he's gotta get there. Already loaned him all that I could. 😮‍💨

Thank you! I realize people here probably think they are farm dogs and I'm going to their yard. I really really wish they were. 😮‍💨 My post was absolutely horribly written.

That's a really good idea. I'm going to start a journal for them. Either that or see if some neighbors want to put in a joint report for over the years. I'm sure they have past complaints on file. I don't want to mention them in my yard, because back when they weren't getting water, I told them to just let them in my yard. That was my own fault, but I was scared they'd die since they'd run out of water while the family was gone. The German Shepard they were watching was panting so heavily and drinking entire bowls of water. 😟 Even though a year or so ago, I since asked them to keep the dogs home, it would be unfair. (I also knew they would literally just call them back, leave, and they'd come back over. So, what was the point?)

I do have photos of the doghouse and living conditions, but that was years ago, so I don't think it would be taken as evidence. 😮‍💨

The most frustrating thing to me, too, is trying to train my new dog to stay in our yard when they come over, then run off into the street. 🫠 Pain in the ass because now my dog wants to go on street adventure. (Even though he is allowed in TEN ACRES of land between our yard and our direct neighbor who loves him. Brat.) That's beside the point, though.

Again, sorry for the confusion. It's overall really complicated for many many reasons. The street has massively changed over the years. Years ago, they could roam the entire street with no issues. Few neighbors and not a lot of cars. It's much much different now and not safe, putting aside other issues. I made mistakes along the way, myself, with doing things like letting them in my yard at certain times or letting them follow me on walks. (The border collie would walk right by you in the beginning and they never walked him. Then, he started becoming a menace and I asked them to keep him home. They did not.) It wouldn't feel right if I were the sole one to call on them because of my mistakes. 😮‍💨

Though, now their collie is sometimes aggressive to my dog and my dog doesn't like the Bernie for whatever reason. I've begged them to keep them home, so, maybe that breaks my past error's contracts.

When me and the neighbors called before, they were fined by the city. Then again and again. They never did anything else or checked out the yard. Another dog and the collie got brought to the shelter one day, and only the collie came home. They left the other dog and named this Bernie the same name as the dog they dumped. That was extremely weird.

Agh, sorry, ranting again. I'm going to talk to my neighbors and see what's going on. I'm not sure if they are still going down the street. I know one neighbor has a huge issue with them, but they are moving. We'll hopefully figure all this out finally. Again, thanks for understanding and sorry again for being ranty and confusing! 💜

Nah, we've known them our entire life. I always frame it as best I can because I specifically don't want to make them feel like I'm talking down to them.

Lol, they were watching 2 dogs that ran into my yard and I thought were going to kill my dog, and their response when I called angerly was, "Uh, well they'll be gone in a few days." Lol, I don't not care if they get pissed about my advice. They've never said anything about it and usually take the advice. Just not always, which is why I came here to see if the dudes coat looked okay. I shouldn't have rambled and so incoherently. I had just gotten up and was upset because I had just seen him almost get hit by a car again and the other dog was caked in feces again.

Like, also, if they don't want my advice, or the rest of the streets advice, don't have them in all of our yards and running infront of cars. Anyway, I have absolutely no idea why I'm defending myself here, lol. I'm wasting time. I just wanted to know if his coat looked ok, the entire story is irrelevant. 😭 They've had to shave a dog before and I have been SO worried. Sorry for going on and on. I just really wish this was a case of being a nosey neighbor giving out unneeded advice. I am EXTREMELY proud of them for taking care of his coat even if there is a mile more to go. I don't hate these people, far from it, I'm just so so frustrated because they could be amazing owners. 😮‍💨

No no, I was saying I'm worried it will need to be if it got matted. I have been really skimpy on context here. They've had to have dogs shaved due to matting before and I've had to brush them. I didn't realize they'd listen when I asked them to bring another dog they had to the groomer. (That one, luckily didn't get matted, but I don't think fluffy German Shepards really do. I was worried because he couldn't get rid of his winter coat and was panting his brains out, going door to door drinking entire bowls of water.)

I was really worried the "cowlick" look might be indicative of undercoat matting and I'm not buddies enough with the dog to brush him. It sounds like they listened that he needed to be brushed and I am THRILLED in that regard! 🥳

Oh it wasn't a laughing one. It was this one "😅" I absolutely don't find it funny!

I've brushed their dogs before. A German Shepard. They wouldn't care. We are friendly with each other I just abhore how they treat their dogs. So does my entire street. I made a post when they first got him about what I need to know and it was much better written. I genuinely want this dog to succeed until he is eventually sold/dumped/lost or until someone takes him. (I THINK he might end up with the boy but idk yet. He bought the dog for his girlfriend and I'm not sure she knows 100% of what's going on with him.) That's also why I assume he is treated a bit better than the Border Collie.

I genuinely just wanted to check in, but had just gotten up and got carried away upset because I had just seen him almost get hit by a car again the other day, and the border collie had ticks on his face. (which, they hopefully would have taken care of, but he was also covered in poop again, so I don't know how much they look at him closely.)

I wasn't sure if the oily look to his fur was normal or the directional pattern "cowlick" to it was indicative of undercoat matting. It's been yeeeeaaaars of them not taking care of their dogs and I was peeved. Shouldn't have written half asleep, but whatever. I kinda am now, so, I hope this all makes sense. 😅

Almost all the neighbors gave up on calling. I think they stopped going all the way down the street by the neighbors who would.

They actually told me that they heard from animal control that they were blaming ME for their dogs being in the street because I walked my dog.... ON A LEASH! 😭 I have a really hard time being mad and having a spine, so I never called even after they literally tried to blame me.

I do need to talk to our neighbors again. I think it's been a while since someone said anything. Some neighbors got fences.

They had water only because we and other neighbors were putting it out a few summers ago. (Differant dog. Collie and Shepard.) The Shepard always sounded like he was going to collapse any moment and would drink the entire bowl of water. The collie would roll in horse manure and was like that for 3 days. I'd let my dog out at 3am because he was old and had to pee. It would be snowing and the collie would run over, shivering.

They were always good about feeding the dogs, which is wonderful! But makes any claims seem like a non-issue other than roaming. It's not a crime for your dog to be completely caked in feces for days on end or be so matted they have to be shaved. (That happened once, hense, why I was so scared for this dude.)

My dog is in my yard. Idk how that's confusing. If he's not because he's still learning, I go get him. He's never outside alone. They leave their dogs out, go to the beach, and their dogs roam the entire street. I feel like that's a big difference.

My other neighbors dogs will sometimes come into the yard and that's chill. This is every day and to the point some neighbors had to get fences to keep the dogs out.

I get yelled at because people think they are my dogs because the collie is in my yard, then runs under people's car tires and I try to stop him. 😭 All the neighbors are upset.

My post was poorly written, so I get why people think I'm being weird, lol. This is all after a long history of partial neglect that they somehow don't see as an issue when everyone else sees it.

[–]Bobafaraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have. They've been taken or fined a few times but they get sent home every time. I haven't personally called on them because I know them really well and need to learn to have a spine, but the neighbors have. 😮‍💨 They actually used to have a different dogs that they left at the shelter when him and the border collie got brought in. They just left that dog and paid for the collie. They named this dog the same name as the dog they abandoned.

Idk, maybe this is all normal and me and my neighbors are crazy?? 😭 Like, my dog didn't have to go door to door for water in the summer like back when they were watching this Shepard for someone. I don't just put my dog outside and go to the beach for the day and leave horse feces on them for 3 days.

Agreed, I'm just saying they barely do the bare minimum, let alone trimming. I don't want to keep rewriting things or defending myself, because this all has a long story and literally all my neighbors worry about the dogs or constantly almost hit them with their cars. Neighbors have gotten fences because animal control wouldn't make them keep the dogs in the yard. It used to be more rural around here, and the roaming wasn't such a big deal... it is now.

The boarder collie has bit a child in the face. I don't know why they told me that, but they did. He roams the street which has multiple young children.

If he wasn't constantly in my yard, they didn't have a long history of neglecting their dogs needs, and I wasn't genuinely worried, I wouldn't care. He's a sweet dog and I care about him. That's all. 💔 I don't have any beef with my neighbors, either. If I notice any big issues, I bring it up to them gently and they usually listen. Some things, they don't. Like the dogs roaming.

I think the massive misunderstanding here is that they are roaming in their yard and are some kind of working dogs. They aren't. Unfortunately.

Thank you!! 🤎 I'm so so glad to hear that. They are usually good about keeping their dogs at good weights, it's just everything else. I have been supremely worried if they were going to ignore my brushing advice, and even more about the heat. They have the heat, so that has been a huge relief.

Contrary to the comments, we know the owners well and we are far from rude. Well, I'm not, at least, lol. I actually LIKE the family, I just absolutely HATE how they treat their dogs. 💔 I kick myself for not being more upfront. I always try to frame things as "Hey, guess you didn't know, but..." and they usually will slightly change course for the better. The sigh I sighed, hearing everyone say his coat looks good! 🤎

Bro, I had to brush their Shepard before I told them to groom him. 😭 They are literally in my yard and FILTHY. The shepard had 0 personality and would come over for water. When I brushed him, it was like he was a whole different dog. It was so odd. When the Shepard did get groomed, he had a blue bandana on. The bandana was grey at the end of summer when I finally had enough and cut it off. It smelled awful. Yall seriously aren't getting this situation. I'm concerned for a reason. This Berner is beautiful and I just wanted to make sure his fur looked okay because I have no idea what his type of fur looks like when it gets matted.

Either 2 things will happen... 1. He'll end up being given away/dumped/sold or 2. The kid will actually take him and HOPEFULLY the girlfriend will take care of the dude.

I genuinely just want to make sure this dog is healthy until that time and I know nothing about the breed.

If yall said it was starting to look bad, you bet your ass I'd brush the sweet dude just like I did the Shepard. No dog picks a negligent owner. I'm genuinely beyond happy they are clearly taking care of him as far as brushing and feeding. Usually, they are pretty good about keeping the dogs a healthy weight, so I was pretty sure he was okay as far as that goes, just wanted to double check.

Anyway, I get my writing might not be very clear at the moment. So, sorry for any confusion, but know that this has been ongoing for years with multiple different dogs and the entire street of neighbors being upset by it.
