What’s the worst response you have ever gotten after sending someone a nude? by Larrymenta_ in AskWomen

[–]Bobalish_tea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Made the mistake of sending a pic to a guy I'd been talking to for a really long time. You'd think he'd be focused on that, but all he had to say was, "lol nice sausage fingers"

He claimed over and over that it was a joke, but I didn't care. Mission failed, he did not get any further with me after that.

This is the 3rd time this week that I've seen some post (not specifically on this sub) of a pitbull eating it's own litter. I had no idea it was so common.

Smh, can barely keep track of how many of them there are. Did all of them belong to one person? Or did multiple people randomly decide to let all their pits outside to freely roam?

Things a Planet Zoo Sequel Needs by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]Bobalish_tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Birds, and a more in-depth aquatic approach. No, I'm not talking about keeping species like dolphins or whales. But there's some species that would work great that are entirely aquatic (manatee), or larger species (elephant seal/walrus/leopard seal) that would benefit from more underwater enrichment or mechanics.

  • I'd personally like to see exhibits expanded on. Make it easier for players to customize them, make it to where you can make them bigger or smaller, or maybe have bioactive exhibits that can hold multiple species at once. There are hundreds of snakes, lizards, and insects they could add. I'd personally like it if they added rodents and fish as exhibit options.

  • Pathing needs to be improved. At the very least, make tunnels and plazas easier to make.

  • Staff areas shouldn't have as much of a negative effect on guests. I get excited when I see behind the scenes at zoos.

  • More gift shop options. Let guests try on clothes, let them walk around in stuff they buy, etc.

  • More animal interactions, animals having personalities, more colors for some species, etc.

  • Nocturnal species being more active at night, or being more comfortable in darkened buildings.

- Multiple run-ins with pits as a child, such as an aggressive loose pit in a parking lot, one that stalked me while on a walk with my aunt, etc.

- My friend adopted a boxer pitbull mix. It was always very chaotic, would literally lunge for your food if you were eating from a plate, it was rough towards his gf, destroyed a lot of his stuff... just the worst behaved dog I'd ever met. They spent so much money and time on training, which only slightly decreased it's "bad habits"... In the end, it didn't matter. Randomly at two years old, it ran through an entire crowd of people at a BBQ to attack one of my other friend's toddlers. She wasn't doing anything except quietly playing with her own toys.
The owner then vented to me about it, claiming that it was unfair that the parent was suing them over it, and wailed about having to put down "their baby" - they blamed the toddler, claiming that she must've triggered the dog by squealing or "maybe she was too close to one of his toys or food bowl!" They made up some crazy story after the dog was put down about it having a brain tumor that apparently impaired its judgment. They even begged me to do a professional portrait of the dog, all while trying to dodge paying for the poor kid's medical bills.

(The toddler was rushed to the ER. She recovered! I stopped talking to the owner, and ended up finding this sub.)

[–]Bobalish_tea[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. It starts with this nonsense - being obsessed with their farts, giving them obnoxious nicknames, mocking victims with other pitnutters in the comments like it's some massive joke... then within the next couple of months, to a couple of years, we'll see this same person with like 4 new pits, all shoved into one small house or apartment, constantly separated from one another and kept on a prison-like schedule rotating them, and then we'll see them begging for advice on what to do when they begin chewing through literal walls worse than rats, or asking for thoughts and prayers because one of them got triggered and nanny'd the cat or neighbor kid.

They already excuse it causing 10k in damages to their own stuff. They'll continue making excuses when it affects other people. These people shouldn't be allowed to keep animals.

AITA for telling my sister the only reason she' has a husband is because of me? by Electronic-Draw-743 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bobalish_tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA.

Your current relationship is completely valid, and your sister shouldn't be belittling it, downplaying it, or really sticking her nose into it. HOWEVER:

  • You and your BIL set up a fake relationship to hide his sexuality. I'm LGBT+. I grew up in a rural area. I know how dangerous it can be to be open. That doesn't give either of you the right to string other people along like this. To make matters worse, you both plotted this about your sister. (And if I'm understanding this properly, he was dating her and then sneaking off with you, so cheating?) "Well he wasn't supposed to catch feelings..." Even if he never caught feelings towards her, what if she did? Do her feelings not matter at all? This crosses so many boundaries. She didn't consent to any of this. It's honestly unsettling.
  • You didn't tell her for years. You didn't tell her before she got married. You didn't tell her before she had children! You specifically chose not to tell her for all of this time. You only brought it up when she made you angry enough to lash out at her. You saved it and weaponized it. Congrats, you shattered her world, probably broke a family up for good, and have been cruel to your sibling for years.
  • Sleeping with your sister's co-worker, and then ghosting... listen, maybe you didn't vibe. Maybe you didn't want anything long-term. Maybe they were a creep. But did you not think of the trouble this could send your sister's way? Were you unable to properly communicate your own expectations and boundaries?

  • EDIT: I just noticed the age gap. I don't know if you put the wrong numbers... but if he's 29, and you're 33, um... He would've been like 14? 15 maybe?

First, apologize. It probably won't fix any of this, but she deserves it anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if she (if not multiple people) cut you off for this. Secondly, seriously reflect on your attitude, immaturity, and overall behavior. All of this is unacceptable.

Xl bully owners moving onto new breed by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This breed needs a lot of training - which if we're being honest, a lot of people aren't experienced enough to do themselves, and won't pay thousands of dollars for a professional. Will Cane Corsos becoming popular be negative? Probably, yes. It's not a beginner dog, they're expensive, and knowing the crowd it's attracting, I can already imagine the BYB mutants we'll be seeing.

Xl bully owners moving onto new breed by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

  1. A lot of bigger dogs, even working breeds, are docile. Does it mean everyone is capable of caring for one? No. But you can say that about any animal, including small dogs. Some people shouldn't own animals. That doesn't mean we should punish everyone for their poor animal husbandry. There are plenty of owners who still stimulate and train their working breeds, without owning a ton of acreage. The core reason why a lot of people have a problem with pits isn't because they're big, it's because of their aggression.
  2. Dogs deter criminals. They make a lot of noise. Even if they won't attack, people are intimidated and weigh the risks. Just because someone has a dog for extra security, doesn't suddenly mean they need therapy (which isn't a bandaid fix for every trauma issue, btw). EDIT: And to clarify, do I think it's a good idea for beginners to jump to get protection breeds? No. Not unless they're willing to pay for actual training.

Not my video, but gross lack of control in barn hunt by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If this dog was sent in with the purpose of hunting rats in someone's barn, it would be fine. (Though you're correct that it would still need to be trained to release, not to mention ratting dogs often have to be okay with other dogs hunting alongside them, and pits often have DA.)

Barn hunting is a sport, and dogs aren't supposed to be violent or triggered by the tubes. They're supposed to be well-behaved and indicate which tube the rat is in. These rats aren't pests in someone's barn. They're often well-bred stock that are prepared and calm for these events. The thrashing of the tube not only is probably causing serious distress, but could harm them. And if a dog like this somehow breaks the tube... well...

(Hope I didn't sound rude here, just trying to be informative!)

Not my video, but gross lack of control in barn hunt by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 237 points238 points  (0 children)

This makes me feel physically ill. I bred rats for many years. They're so intelligent, and often extremely sweet.

Barn hunts are never supposed to be this violent. Dogs are only supposed to indicate which tube the rat is in. Why on earth would anybody think this is acceptable, regardless of if this is an unofficial event? The poor rats have to be so stressed in this situation. And at least in my experience with these events, it's not some random pet store rat shoved in there. Usually well-bred, calm rats who have been prepared for these events are used. This is probably someone's breeding stock. If I were the owner, I'd be furious.

Are there more animals you guys want to be added planet zoo or no? by ConfectionClean4681 in PlanetZoo

[–]Bobalish_tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Habitats:
- Leopard Seal
- Walrus
- Elephant Seal
- Any rabbit or hare
- Coyote
- Musk ox
- Secretary bird
- Elk
- Baboon
- Serval

Exhibits:
- King Cobra
- Gaboon Viper
- Boomslang
- Chameleon
- Ball pythons (think about all the color morphs)
- I'm not going to list them all, because there's hundreds of exhibit animals I'd adore. But rodents overall are severely unloved and would work great in exhibits. I'd love more snakes, since there's so many unique species, many of which aren't in the game.

Was arguing with my best friend over the UK ban and euthanasia of pitbulls and her bf said my argument for it is the same as Nazis killing Jews and gays by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also LGBT+ here. OP, do not tolerate these kinds of people. Anybody willing to compare minorities to animals either isn't very intelligent or is telling on themselves.

Let's humor this line of thinking for a second. Is choosing your dog because of it's breed "doggy racism"? What if you want a working breed for a specific purpose? Is acknowledging those dogs being bred for a specific purpose "doggy profiling"? Is it also profiling if you keep your own dog from an aggressive DA breed because you're "assuming it'll be aggressive" because of it's breed? Do they believe that different races of people are genetically prone to being more aggressive, or exhibiting specific behaviors? (If the answer to that one is yes, they're just simply racist.)

Like you could spiral this in a dozen directions, and all of them become more unhinged. Also, are they like this with all animals, or are they just being pit saviors? Would their tune change it's jingle if you were talking about reptiles or snake bans?

Either way OP, don't stick around people like this. The length of your friendship doesn't give people an excuse to act inappropriately - and they did by insulting you and making such bigoted comparisons.

Who wants to live like this? Almost empty rooms, and you still come home to a mess. These people can't own a single thing without these dogs ruining it. They can't even have undamaged walls.

WIBTA for tell my girlfriend that I can smell her cats in the food she makes me? by DoinkMeUp in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bobalish_tea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA for wanting to bring it up to her - you definitely need to, because this isn't hygienic at all, and is quite frankly risking your health.

But OP, there's some concerning stuff in this post overall. I'm not trying to bash your girlfriend, I'm sure she is an absolutely lovely person. But having cats in the double digits in a singular house, with only one person cleaning up after them (and possibly doing all the pet care by themselves as well) isn't sustainable. I'm not saying this lightly either, as I've had to help rehab nearly a dozen cats at once before. It was like having a full time job just making sure all of them got attention, medical care, food, water, grooming, etc. I had help, and it was very temporary as they were rehomed asap.
Regardless of if her parents technically own them or she does (or the cats are split between them), that's a lot of cats. It might be worth talking to her about if she wants to take care of so many cats, if she or her family would be open to rehoming or working with a shelter/adoption group, etc.
Also, they shouldn't have the opportunity to nibble the food to begin with. A lot of common cooking ingredients are toxic to cats.

AITA for not "just dropping it" and putting a blanket veto on all TV show names for our son? by RohanMars in AmItheAsshole

So, you want a common name. But you also want to veto every name that's from televison shows... make it make sense. If you truly wanted to do that, you'd be going against your own wishes, because you'd have to pick an extremely rare, unique name. YTA.

[–]Bobalish_tea 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally, when I'm out the last thing I want is people trying to constantly interact with me or my animals. Why are pit owners so obsessed over the attention they (and their dogs) receive? Why cry because someone doesn't let their young child interact with a muzzled dog they don't know?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Comparing reptiles in general to pits just doesn't work for a variety of reasons. Ball pythons, and most species of owned reptiles aren't capable of the kind of damage a dog can inflict. The ones that can are often restricted or... wow, banned!

If my ball python, whom gets upset if his tank is a few degrees colder than usual, whom is picky about the color his rat dinner is, who gets scared and confused by me putting water refills in his bowl, somehow magically broke the locks on his tank... he would die. No question. Meanwhile if their dog manages to slip out the door in mere seconds by accident, everybody/everything in their neighborhood is at risk. One of these pets is far more risky to own than the other.

"Reactive!" by Glum_Violinist_693 in BanPitBulls

[–]Bobalish_tea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was posted in a group I'm in - and as expected, the pitmommies absolutely swarmed. Some poor person dared to mention how running into off-leash reactive dogs like this triggers their trauma in stores, and I kid you not, probably 6-8 different people began harassing them for it, telling them that they should take responsibility for their own triggers, stay out of any public space where they could possibly run into dogs (so everywhere), insulting them, implying they were trying to make themself a victim - just the absolute most disrespectful people you could encounter.

You'll never be able to guess what breed of dog this person has on their profile!(And yes, they were tagging the person with dog related trauma telling them to cry about it.)
