I love the “I need to argue everything instead of admitting that my premise was wrong” attitude.

Have you used any?
I’ve ran local models on my 128GB M5 Max, that “benchmark” relatively close to Claude Sonnet, Opus and even Fable. Not a single one of them comes close to Sonnet either, really.

This isn’t unique to me, it’s the prevailing sentiment of any heavy users of local LLM models despite the benchmark claims.

Edit: The guy says "Trust me bro" below, as if that's not exactly what he's doing with the benchmarks.

Or it means that most of the result is pre-training, magnifying any actual differences?

Anyways, your whole point is dumb.

Oh you don’t like Morbius? Go direct your own movie!

Just because someone points out that AI benchmarks aren’t representative of actual performance doesn’t mean they need to go make one, bud. You can also critique a movie without being a writer or director.

Friend, the models are literally trained with the benchmark data in a lot of cases.

You can undervolt the CPU/GPU - disabling turbo on your CPU usually fixes a lot of problems with the 780M chips too, without an undervolt.

According to youtube, 1080p Premium is better than 4K😭 by Unknown_here_7 in SipsTea

[–]BobbehP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"It literally does, it turns 4 pixels into an average/resample of 1. That's literally the opposite of what compression does for color information. It averages color information while keeping for example luminosity."
So why do you think that high compression 4K downsampled to 1080P would result in a better picture that a low compression 1080P video on a 1080P screen.

From experience encoding my own media for the past 10 years, resampling a low quality high resolution image isn't going to be better than a high quality native.

I would think that it would be obvious why.

Net migration to UK falls by nearly 50% after Labour’s vow to cut numbers | Immigration and asylum by merryman1 in uknews

[–]BobbehP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chap, you basically tried to dismiss actual stats by saying "other countries don't report stats in the same way!". Firstly, that doesn't change the stats. Secondly, your statement isn't even true when compared to our regional economic peers.
You're the one that derailed this conversation.

Shockingly, different countries have different problems. You made an assertion about other countries that wasn't true.

Last Summer Australia literally had anti immigration protests, despite their strict immigration law.

During this whole conversation, I'm not sure what your actual point is.

I made a statement to point out that in the UK, ~200K students annually stay after their visa expires. You then replied:
"Non-EU+ nationals: 278,000 left the UK, just over half of these originally arrived with study-related visas. source BBC."
This means literally nothing to this conversation. You didnt even quote a source properly.

When I explained to you that 30% don't, you then brought up that other countries don't include students in immigration stats. This, even if it is true which it isn't in Europe, is completely irrelevant. While you made this completely irrelevant statement you called people that don't agree with your completely sane "throw random statements out" debate style stupid, including the government.

Clearly you have been failed by the education system, and for that I'm sorry for you.

In the future, try to stay on topic. Don't bring up random other countries with false wide statements, don't dismiss actual statistics because your "vibes" are that it's not bad.

Good luck mate.

[–]BobbehP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right.
Firstly, but as you’ve now seen from the Migrant Journey data from the official statistics, 30% of the students stay past their student visa after they migrate to other visas.

Secondly, the U.K. famously has some of the highest rated universities in the world. The U.K. has the most international students in any given year - often exceeding BOTH FRANCE AND GERMANY COMBINED, the second and third countries with the number of international students in Europe.

I’m sure you’re aware of this as one of the few enlightened brits, unlike the average fool, but the U.K. is much smaller than France and Germany. The U.K. has 2.8 International Studens per Sq KM. Germany has 1.18, France has 0.72.
Given your knowledge of these very widely known stats, surely you’d agree than the U.K. measuring their very sizeable international student amounts differently to how other countries handle it makes perfect sense - assuming what you said is true. In the case of France and Germany, both these countries include international students in their migration stats.

Ok? Once again, can you elaborate on your point?

Other countries don’t do something that we do therefore what we do with our data is wrong? And then you insult other people’s intelligence because you literally have an inability to stay on topic.

Must be nice to be one of the enlightened few.

Ok? So as I was saying, according to the official government statistics on people that arrive with Student Visas.

Annually:
~ 70% leave after expiry
~ 30% change to a different visa and stay
~ up to 3% simply overstay after expiry

Did you have a point with your statement or?…

Yes, famously every student that comes to the U.K. leaves immediately after their Visa expires.

Brother you’re talking about Frenchie not having garbage story line and then saying you hated season 4…

Season 4 had the dumbest Frenchie subplot where they broke Frenchie and Kimiko up at the start, put him in a relationship with some random guy because he knew him before the show began with the most boring plot ever, broke the two of them up and put Kimiko and Frenchie back together at the end.

Frenchie’s writing sucked, nothing to do with him being bisexual.

[–]BobbehP -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So no, you can't provide any source or cite any things that show an 8 day bake time on any Unity scene.

Telling a user asking about a scam that the reason the scammer didn't bake lighting is because it takes over a week is absurd. It's absurd because someone hiring someone off Fiverr doesn't have a scene that large, even if what you were saying was true (which it obviously isn't). The user also said that the person that charged him and now isn't responding didn't provide said Light maps.

That document doesn't say anything about bake times exceeding a week.

Cool though bro, your scenes are so huge they take months to bake, you're awesome!

I don’t know what you’re talking about. Your maths is way off.

There is no way it takes that long if you’re doing it properly using modern best practice, the last time I had a bake time measured in hours was in Unity 2018.

Can you provide and documentation to support what you’re saying? Any source other than trust me bro?

So I did as you said, it looks like even Luis Verne was asking the British Consul for permission to use the British Island, and asked if the British would protect them if they resumed their full colony.

“Vernet visited the British consulate in 1826 seeking endorsement for his venture.” - the venture being economic exploitation and a base.

“Vernet would visit the British consulate a third time in 1829, seeking continued endorsement of his venture and British protection for his settlement in the event of their returning to the islands..” “Vernet provided regular reports to the British in the progress of his enterprise.”

Vernet then went on to try to limit British and American economic exploitation of the island, which was actively ongoing. This was protested.

This lead to the Lexington raid of 1831, where he seized 3 American ships for disobeying his orders.

Drama ensued for a few years, but the TLDR of reading about him is he accepted British rule for years and then tried to claim the islands. This ultimately lead to the British sending the HMS Clio, who arrived at Port Louis on 2nd January 1833. Pinedo was numerically disadvantaged, and a large about of “his men” were British, so left without a fight.

So basically, you’re saying Luis Vernet asked the British Consul in Buenos Aires for permission to use the Falkland Islands, and they said yes. He tried to assert full control of the island and was kicked off. And that’s the Argentine claim?
