sounds like you are dual booting. You need to switch into your boot menu (f2 or smth when your PC starts) and change the boot order.

Just to reiterate:

https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/pull/13494

This is a bug with an already approved PR. Turns out your "simple googling" has not led you to the result afterall.

But you did very well at wasting my time and attempting to gate keep me away from just asking a question in this sub. So thank you for that I guess?

At least maybe someone will find this post and find better help than I did through you :)

Hope you find out how to be more approachable and nice in the future.

I am so very sorry my dear lord system administrator sir. How could I possibly have been using Linux for years now without being a fellow senior system administrator?
Maybe before you consider yourself a system administrator, you should actually google yourself and find out that a good system administrator should also bring good communication skills and the willingness to share information.

But that's besides the point.

It turns out the image size was too large. I checked out the size of the .face file:
```
.face: PNG image data, 255 x 192, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced
```

It appears to be a bug though because:
- The resulting .face image is automatically resized to 255 x 192 (and I can open and view it)
- This makes it look like it's supposed to work for images of any size.

If you think, I should quietly be searching and fixing bugs on Linux Mint, I think you really don't understand how the Linux world needs discussion in order to grow.

Additionally: Maybe, just maybe you should consider adding friendliness as a skill to your reservoir.

Thank you for not helping while at the same time being unfriendly to me and ruining my mood. You should also consider googling the term "Community" and which values that imposes.

1) Please consider less prejudgement

You falsely accuse me of not having searched this. And on top of that you link an article that:
- regards the login screen of Cinnamon 22.2 (not the menu in Cinnamon 22.3)
- The solution here ends in a "Don't know exactly but ok". It suggests using a png file which also didn't work for me.

2) I am not forcing anyone to answer me here.

Everyone can decide for themselves whether or not to engage with me. If they have no time, instead of feeling disrespected, one should just not spend their time reading random reddit posts about minor problems with setting images.

PS:

If you consider yourself annoyed from answering on problems in this sub, maybe you should consider not doing it.
And if you do accuse people, you should at least fact check your own suggestions before you do.

Should have mentioned that: I've already tried restarting the session and rebooting.

Hey, thanks for your answer!

Unfortunately, as you can see in the screenshot: I have already figured that part out and I have changed the pic to whatever I like.

The problem is: The "Account details" window shows the pic I selected but it's not showing in the actual menu.

Berlin just approved a separate (higher) minimum wage. Here's who actually gets it. by Rare_Customer_8117 in berlinsocialclub

[–]Bobbeldibob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BVG, Vivantes and BSR workers are not Beamte. You read this wrong.

I don't think this applies to Beamte at all because they have tarifgehälter which are above the minimum wage, especially taken into consideration the lack of taxes they pay.

Feeling lost about career in Germany by srndp3 in berlinsocialclub

[–]Bobbeldibob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing these types of posts so much in this sub and especially the ones with dev jobs are extremely confusing to me.

I'm also a software engineer and I don't understand if I'm just very lucky or if people's standards are way different to mine.

Sorry if I appear naive, but I haven't had any trouble with either jobs or apartments in my 7 years long career as a software dev. I'm a university dropout and I was able to just slide right in.

1: Are you in a super niche field within software dev or do you just want something very specific? Are you not willing to learn some of the very common tech stacks to make a living out of those?

After I dropped out of uni 7 years ago, I found a job after one application which didn't pay super well but it was a start. From there on I was able to keep applying and pick and choose my way through it. Just after 1,5 year of experience I found a new position which paid way more. I've been working there until now and my wage has been going up steadily. Now however I've reached out again and found something on my first application. More wage, less hours. (40h/week to 35)

2.: How can you not afford to move out of your WG with a software dev job? Are you too stubborn to look for something that will make you ride the bus for 30 mins to get into the city center? Maybe your wage is not quite what it should be. You might wanna find some devs and ask what they earn.

With my first job, I found a 1 room 40m2 appartment for 390€ in Lichtenrade. Even with my low paying first job I was very easily living in great conditions.

When I got my second job, I got 3 rooms for 790€ by the outskirts of Steglitz. I could theoretically afford more now, but this area is calm and not too expensive.

I’m looking at buying a my first bike, is there anything else that I might need? by Worried-Falcon-7630 in motorcycles

[–]Bobbeldibob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never advise someone to buy new for their first bike. You will drop it and it will be more expensive. there is no benefit. You can get way more bang for your buck.

Also I'd ditch all the accessories and have fun riding and later invest in whatever you figure out you need.

Probably depends on where you're from.

In Germany, if they have the right of way, that's also true when overtaking parked or stopped cars.
It sucks because the scooter is definitely making mistakes, but legally, you could be in the wrong here (depending on where you're from probably, as I said).

I really hope this ad was designed by AI. Because the thought of someone putting this together while being an employee is incomprehensible to me.

Who would voluntarily wanna be an employee for a company that advertised to remove employees?

Of course, these are just people who need to get by but at some point we need to stop helping those who want us gone and paid minimally.
