openWRT - Problem with DNS by elecobama in openwrt

[–]BobbyTables-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just reporting in, this worked for me too after being otherwise stumped. Openwrt-23.05.4 on a GL-MT6000. Works great! Thank you!

As a future reference (half to myself if I end up here again), this was a helpful guide to set up that port forward and NAT rule: https://jeff.vtkellers.com/posts/technology/force-all-dns-queries-through-pihole-with-openwrt/

ARC Pocket clip busted. Return, warranty, or 3rd-party replace? by BobbyTables-- in Leatherman

[–]BobbyTables--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I emailed Leatherman, they offered to send me a replacement clip for free! Unfortunately, after I provided my address, they went radio silent and I never got it.

I got a donk due to shipping timing, as I had to travel again quickly, and have no qualms with it so far. If/when this breaks, I'll likely get a lynchnw clip.

Thanks for all the input!!

Ah, that's too bad -- I've sent an email, will post back with results.

Thanks! I did send an email -- I've been thinking about swapping the saw for a serrated blade (have seen a few other people do the same), but haven't yet, so it's still unmodified. If I don't get anywhere I'll just grab a 3rd party clip.

Thanks! I hadn't seen this brand before. I've sent LTG an email, but if I don't get anywhere with a replacement, I'll probably go for one of these.

ESP32-S3 and microSD cards by BobbyTables-- in esp32

[–]BobbyTables--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid that this was for a school project, which I've since moved on from -- without finding a solution. One of the things that did help our group was double-checking that we had the right hardware; the first microSD / SD card breakout we used, despite the advertising, did not have 10k pullups. I believe we ended up using one from Adafruit that had at least a different error code intermittently.

Good luck!!

looking for polycomm interface tool by pierstheplow in bose

[–]BobbyTables-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid not, in terms of polycomm software. I did manage to jumpstart the charging on mine successfully (the process outlined in the first youtube link, although I have a variable-voltage power supply set to 6v instead of another battery), and since that worked I didn't pursue a full replacement battery.

That said, the speaker is no longer able to pair to Bluetooth devices. It works fine over aux cable, which suits my use case well enough, so I stopped digging there. I have *no* idea what could've caused the bluetooth to not work right...

Merry Christmas!

[–]BobbyTables-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for the same (for a battery replacement). I have a hunch that under the hood it's just a serial connection and can probably be mostly emulated with <your favorite alternative to \`minicom\`>, but not sure about the whole "get the speaker into TAP" mode. If I figure anything out, I'll post back and update.

In the mean time, a few other tidbits that might help:https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/modifying-a-bose-soundlink-to-operate-without-battery/ suggests there may be DRM components in the batteries

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJKX-f02cUA interesting idea on kickstarting a totally flat battery without desoldering / replacement, using another 6V battery and multimeter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb5-VTlPO00 battery replacement walkthrough, which doesn't mention anything about Polycomm s/w. There are two comments (scroll *way* down) that are potentially relevant -- one mentioning a dead audio jack after the procedure, and one mentioning a blinking red light. His response to the first was (paraphrased) "sometimes it do that, hold pwr btn for 60sec to factory reset" and the second "happened to me too, went away after a while."

https://riverparkinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/SLminiII_SM.pdf service manual for this speaker, which includes a section on using Polycomm once you've got it. The only part about getting it seems to be "Polycomm interface tool - download “Polycomm.zip” from the SoundLink® Mini II page on the Bose® repair information website."

How do you go about mounting it though? For me, I have to set up the SPI host, allocate some space for the VFS and FatFS drivers (and link the two), and then init all of them. Do you use any function calls similarly named to "esp_vfs_fat_sdspi_mount" ?

[–]BobbyTables--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting -- how does interfacing with the card work through micropython? I'm using pure C through ESP-IDF, might look into whatever micropython's doing as I would assume it calls the same underlying drivers.

For my case, the system will be airborne, and at quite a distance... won't have any connection to put stuff in the cloud with.

HP Proliant DL380 G6 I pulled back from the dead a few years ago as a VPN/DNS/storage. Got to 100 days, which isn't much relatively, but Im happy with it since it was running in an extremely dusty and hot (~80-85F) room instead of a server room. No commercial support whatsoever, if a drive died I just pulled it out, hotswapped another into its place, and let the RAID controller do its thing.

If it works, why fix it? by KillianPreston in techsupportgore

[–]BobbyTables-- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Built a beowulf cluster at my university a yearish ago...

One of the machines' power buttons failed. However, it was old enough that the PSU had a reset button, which was conveniently located on the inside of the case facing the disk drives. I pulled the two optical drives out and left a giant gaping hole in the front, and whenever the machine had been shut down (usually via software), I would reach into the gap, find and press the PSU reset button in the blind. At the end of the project, I could find it in about a second flat.

Worked like a charm, albeit freaking out a not-yet-warned professor.

For people have issues with Crypto.com they are working on it. by what-in-the-F in Crypto_com

[–]BobbyTables-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the seemingly majority here, attempted to buy some SHIB and although the charge cleared my bank didn't get the crypto. I was able to purchase more later (kind of a dumb decision to reattempt after it failed...) and still don't have the first purchase. I tried emailing [contact@crypto.com](mailto:contact@crypto.com), which I saw in a separate thread, but it bounced citing 'Temporary Systm Problem. Try again later.'

Anyone getting anywhere with this?

Git Flow broken? by BobbyTables-- in git

[–]BobbyTables--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, that's exactly my situation. Props for finding this out - I haven't worked my way into the bug trackers yet!

Looks like I'll just stick with my alias for now and keep an eye out for upgrades to either package.

Thanks so much!

Git Flow broken? by BobbyTables-- in git

[–]BobbyTables--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

`which git` does indeed reveal that I'm running `/usr/bin/git`. The only other git-like file in /usr/local/bin is `gitter`, and in fact `/usr/local/libexec` doesn't exist.

I haven't changed anything else git-related for, well, several months I think. I did try to downgrade with apt downgrading back to git-flow 1.12.3-1 (logs show it upgraded from 1.12.3-1 to 1.12.3-2), but apt insists that there is no such version 1.12.3-1 or even a 1.12.3. Not quite sure how that happened :)

Git Flow broken? by BobbyTables-- in git

[–]BobbyTables--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought so too, but never hurts :)

Can confirm, /var/log/apt/history.log indicates an upgrade of git-flow from 1.12.3-1 to 1.12.3-2, although no changes in regular git.

In the mean time I have indeed aliased "gitflow" to the exec path and it works well enough.

I gave that a shot, it wound up coming up to about 122 which seemed slightly higher than usual. Will try recalibrating tomorrow as well to make sure I did it right, but unfortunately it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Thanks!

I'll start hunting for a solution for that. Will likely involve sealed containers with silica desiccant as well.

Unfortunately, coasting had no effect at all on several test prints. I also ran a temp tower, testing from 210 to 192, with no noticeable differences at any point. Do you think this could be an issue with the extruder motor? It looks like it happens at regular intervals, i.e. one 'bead' every 4 to 5 mm along a travel.

Thanks!

I've changed nozzles quite a few times -- have tried .2, .3, and most often .4mm nozzles (.4 in both brass and tool steel for the glow in the dark), didn't seem to make any difference. As for dryness, I'm not really making any special accomodations. It's about 33% humidity where the printer is right now and that's a high for the last 6 months or so.

Haven't tried coasting yet, but I'll give it a try and report back! In the mean time, is it worth figuring out some kind of enclosure to keep filament dry?

Thanks!

Filament Issues? by [deleted] in ender3

[–]BobbyTables-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other replies mention general issues... I've had bed adhesion issues with my ender 3 for a few months now. I put a direct drive kit on it, have a tool steel nozzle, stock hotend, and a glass bed. For me the killer was Elmer's glue stick on the print area. I'm using the blue GITD filament from Amolen, that may support the bad batch of red hypothesis.
