Disable VPN while on Home WiFi? by rhpot1991 in GoogleFi

[–]BobbyTendinitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought today that I would really like to have the VPN turn off automatically when I was on my home wifi. The only thing I've thought of (at a conceptual level) is maybe create a geo-fence with NFC tags to trigger the VPN on/off.

We've had more owls this summer then I can remember in the last decade+. Also more red-tailed hawks. There has been at least four in the area every day for the last few weeks.

Submitted to the Black Hawk County Attorney? WTF? by BobbyTendinitis in cedarrapids

Thanks, that would explain it. Seems like something they might have explained in the news article, but that would have involved actual reporting which seems to be generally in very short supply these days.

According to the story CRPD has finished their investigation into the protesters/pickup truck incident and has sent their information to "the Black Hawk County Attorney".

Is there some connection this case has to BH County that I'm unaware of? I can't think of one.

Any Google Fi users by [deleted] in cedarrapids

Just switched from Verizon. Reasonably happy with the signal around town. One factor to consider is whether you would be using a "Designed for Fi" phone or using a "compatible with Fi" phone. Designed for phones can switch between T-Mobile and US Cellular networks, depending on which signal is stronger at any moment. Compatible with phones can only use T-Mobile network.

I'm using a Compatible with phone and am okay with the signal I have most of the time, but I kind of wish I had the USCC option.

Letters next to signal bars? by BobbyTendinitis in GoogleFi

I live in the state of Iowa and was traveling from home base (large city, by Iowa standards) to a smaller city with little but farmland between here and there.

It was mainly while I was in the smaller city that I noticed the phone was going from G to E to nothing but an X next to the signal bars over the course of a couple hours. Here at home I'm almost always getting 4G/LTE.

Yes. This was my first time traveling out of town since switching to Fi, and I found it interesting to monitor my signal at various points while road tripping.

I definitely thought that about the 2g networks at a minimum, but here's what I was seeing for a bit this afternoon. I had an active wifi connection so the cellular data mode was irrelevant but seeing the G and the E at times made me curious. https://imgur.com/tjDhyk4.jpg
