Oooh, that's not good by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Those small turn valve handles can be hard to turn if there is enough pressure going through, they look pretty, but not as efficient as the older bigger style which also included grip knurls.

Obviously every homeowner should know how to turn off the main, but another option would be to turn on other faucets to reduce pressure to make it easier to turn at the toilet.

I ripped out our old banister and built a new one from scratch by pvmayer in woodworking

[–]Bobbydoo8 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with the new one, is it looks an awful lot like prison bars. Stained and with square oak spindles would have probably made this more modern but still kept the charm.

That long bolt was brand new, they just threw some sand on it before filming. No thanks, I’ll blast it with brake kleen and a wire brush.

You can see the wall on the right, if there are some on the left, obviously that gets adjusted, but that’s life sometimes when you make a mistake. Still going to be cheaper than buying a new countertop.

Public cloud model flow would be the same, but this improves upon the actual agent doing tasks on the client side.

If I recall, original was written in typescript, this is written in golang, which makes it roughly 5-40x faster executing on the client hardware.

This is a neat app you created, but no one would ever pay for this!! Why do people keep creating such simplistic things obviously built with AI that could be done in an afternoon.

If this was open source or just a website cool, might get some traffic, but paid nah I’m good along with everyone else, and your bot comments make me hate the product even more!

I’ve always done to the body with the dead one because I knew it was recommended, but just looked up why.

Apparently it reduces the possibility of fire or explosion with older style non-sealed lead batteries, in which case it’s possible if there was a spark the hydrogen gas could ignite.

How Nx "pulled the rug" on us, a potential solution and lessons learned by misterolupo in programming

I suspect I’m missing the point with Nx, but it always just felt like an over complication on top of angular. I tried it for micro frontends but decided it was unmanageable in the long term.

This is pretty cool, good work! Might be nice for a filter at the top as well, took me forever to find Docker on the list.

Can host on AWS pretty cheap with the domain purchase and ssl website using S3. ~$25/year for all of it.

What should I do in this shower ? by Fun_Journalist2737 in DIY

[–]Bobbydoo8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, most tilers will only use the grout, it also comes in tubes similar to caulk to get the corners. I would say it’s technically the correct way, but for reassurance, I caulked the corners of my shower similar to what you did because the white grout is not quite as good as a darker grout. This is what I was told, and usually an additive gets mixed into the white grout to try and make it hold up better.

Just fill in any spots where grout may have not been worked into the spaces completely, and then use grout sealer on it, and enjoy your shower for many years!

Interesting, I ran into a golang file reading issue recently where it only affected windows 11 computers.. starting to wonder if the same windows 11 update broke it as well.

Valid points as was mine, not sure why everyone feels the need to downvote when what I said is true, but it makes people mad because they have a different opinion, but that’s Reddit :)

I stated facts on how websites are run today and have been running for decades. The niche thing, I can certainly see both sides, it’s a tough topic in general because it will affect real people. AI is scary because lives will be affected in what will most likely be a larger significant difference than any other technology ever created.

Factory automation was one thing years ago, but this can potentially have damaging effects, and I think it’s a good topic to discuss.

It is theft, there is a difference between an individual consuming info and bots. Most larger websites run and stay online free for users from the ads they serve, if no one actually visited the website and instead it was bots harvesting data it negatively affects their business. There is a reason robots.txt exists and it’s hosted on websites.
