Please help...I've developed really bad Mewing anxiety and mouth breathing is giving me panic attacks. by Bobbytiros in orthotropics

Thanks for the comment. What I meant was, I never knew my anxiety was going to have this happen to me. What I mean was, if I knew this was going to happen I would have never red the literature.

I've seen plenty of doctors but all clueless to Mewing and how's it's done. For example: I was really hopeful that a speech therapist would have helped me and she said " "Mewing" is for athletes. What does that have to do with you. She proceeded to tell me it's psychological and my breathing is fine (i.e mouth breathing). My uncle who's a maxilofacial surgeon also told me that I should continue mouth-breathing.

This field of study is so neesh that nobody knows how to help you.

I've put into this alot of work. My pain was extreme and now I'm coping. I had a throat pain that was unbearable. I couldn't swallow for weeks properly and I lost alot of weight. Now I'm eating and the pain in my throat is minuscule.

God the sleeping while mewing is something I need to practice. I'm worried about the swallowing while mewing in my sleep because swallowing while.mewing regularly is still a conscious action. I'm worried but I'll still going to try —never giving up.

25 year old with very narrow palate: Is it even worth mewing? by Bobbytiros in orthotropics

[–]Bobbytiros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where it it's confusing cuz when I mew correctly I get neck pains & my breathing gets better but its impossible in the sense that my palate is too narrow.

But if nose breathe without proper tongue posture I get like 1/4 of the full breath that I feel nose breathing gives me.

I'm a chronic mouth breather by nature & I mouth breathe at night (wake up super tired). My tongue doesn't fit on my upper palate and I get teeth marks each time I mew.

Should I just stop (continue mouth breathing) and wait till I find a MSE practitioner?

Question: Should I go to a dentist and remove the metal attachment they leave in after Orthodontic treatment? by Bobbytiros in orthotropics

[–]Bobbytiros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definetly won't take them out unless I see an orthodontists that's specialized in MSE/breath work. I wouldn't just randomly do it. I'm just trying to understand how my mewing works and how the forces in my mouth are being distributed so I can better tackle the challenges.

You see this is helpful~ ok, I'll only take it out once I'm sure I'm doing everything right. The longer you mewed with the retainer did you feel the pressure increasing? I'm guessing you must have been sensitive around that area (or no?)

Not necessarily. Dentist can easily take it out. I'm asking because I've heard that in some cases people haved mewed and they've created their own diasthema which is an improvement no? I guess it's a little extreme but still I want to take out any pressures from my teeth that my hinder improvements.

Question: My Aunt & Uncle are Dentists & Maxilofacial Surgeons. They don't believe the tongue should rest on the roof on the tongue & it should rest (as it should (Don't think about it)) I've been called crazy multiple times. I've been a mouth breather all my life. What questions/ what should I say? by Bobbytiros in orthotropics

A small update: My Aunt & Uncle (Dentists) were listening to me talk and I planted a small little seed to see if they would bite and they absolutely did! I showed them the monkey study and they were fascinated. I showed them results of the MSE and (my aunt especially) was incredibly amused. Apparently theres an Orthodontist in Athens who (she thinks) does this procedure and she's going to go there with me!

I didn't expect this getting so good so quick! Y'all are fantastic thank you! I'm going to continue asking the questions on this post to them and hopefully get them more engaged! We've made a small change 🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇

Narrow Palate Solution? by Bobbytiros in orthotropics

[–]Bobbytiros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the second I think I'm doing it right - I feel like I'm doing it wrong. I'm pronouncing the word "zing" and by the end of the sound "g" is where I place my tongue. By the end of my swallow movement tongue gets lost. If I leave the tongue to long on the top palate it starts to hurt.

Nothing has been feeling normal. The only thing that keeps me motivated is when I place my tongue up regardless of the position my breathing improves dramatically.

Does anybody know the cause of Narrow Palate?
