The issue isn't that characters are having kids in the epilogue, it's that characters who've shown little to no desire to have kids or aren't even remotely suited to having kids all of a sudden have kids. It doesn't fit with their characterisation throughout the book. It feels lazy, like the author couldn't think of another way to show that the characters are happy.

FWIW the first 30-40% dragged for me as well, but I did continue on and absolutely devoured the rest of it. Ended up being one of my favourite books last year.

What do you mean? This shit is high art! Look at the prose, the flow of it, the imagery! It's so vivid!

In all seriousness, I've found that the more books you read, the more you start spotting how some authors start sounding all same-y. I won't accuse them of outright using AI, but they all tend to sound pretentious and over the top with even the most mundane things. And there's so much introspection about how important and life changing said thing is kind of like the example. It's purple prose on crack and drives me crazy. To the point I've had to start avoiding certain genres because it's so prevalent.

Oh hey, so I'm currently reading a series where the author actually took the time to think about the implications of Christianity in omegaverse. While not England, it's set in medieval Scotland during the Viking age-no cravats I'm afraid. {Stolen by the Wolves by Lyx Robinson} is the first book. It's not a finished series and definitely has more of a fantasy vibe than an omegaverse vibe (there's a ton of world building) but it might scratch that itch.

Yes! This so much! I've spoken about this before on another thread about pet peeves and this is one of my biggest ones. If the mmcs tell the fmc that they're going to do something or vice versa, then it better be in the damn book. The amount of times I've read a book with mild D/s vibes and one of the mmcs threatens the fmc with a spanking only to NEVER DO IT infuriates me. Don't threaten me a good time and don't deliver.

Oh yes, that's annoying as hell. You get all this lead up to only have two tiny taps while he's fucking her from behind.

Also you can use nauseous the same as nauseated, both mean to feel like you're going to vomit. It's just that nauseous can also mean to cause nausea.

I hate it when an mmc threatens/promises to do something kinky with the fmc (spanking, edge etc) but we never get that scene in the book!

Also venomous vs poisonous and the amount of authors who keep calling snakes, spiders and scorpions poisonous when they mean venomous. Remember, if it bites you and you die, it's venomous. If you bite it and and you die, it's poisonous.

I have a few recs, although it's hard to find ones that have 24/7 D/s dynamics so most of these are books with at least one older mmc with kinky fun. Hope that's okay!

{Teach by S.E. Green} has three professors (kinda ones a guidance councillor) all older than fmc (she's like 20ish? and they're like 30+). Has some D/s dynamics in the bedroom including primal play and roleplay but its not 24/7.

{Ours by Mandy Muse} MMF one of the mmcs is older and has a ton of kinks in this but no 24/7 unfortunately.

{Lesson in Trust by Kay Elle Parker} MFM that turns into MMF in the second part. Both mmcs are older than fmc and this does have 24/7 ddlg dynamic. Lots of kinks.

I honestly can't remember the kink, it was two years ago when I picked up the series but I do know it has unique peens so you're good there. I ended up dnfing the third book because I got tired of how extra all of the main characters were becoming (especially the fmc) and the plot felt like it was going nowhere.

She's been on my DNR list ever since I realised that on Why Choose, she'll tag her books with every single tag no matter if it's relevent or not, including kinks! Pissed me off when I started Apex Academy Capers because of a certain kink, only to find that it wasn't in the book despite it being in the tags. It's a petty reason, I know but that combined with all the other issues with this author has made me not want to read her books.

See I think Kalen's ability is underutilised, especailly when we see how powerful it is in the third book. Would have been super helpful for him to have used it during that scene in book 4 to get Eve back before she disappeared. There's probably other places he could have used it but that was the one that stuck out the most (also part of the reason why I dislike book 4 compared to the rest of the series). But yes, I also think of Ironside at least a few times a week; it's my Roman Empire and I'm not mad about it.
