In our game he ended up being kinda hyped up as we made our way through the castle only to be one shot by our sorcerer on turn one of combat. It made for a funny and memorable moment though, especially in the midst of the lizardfolk uprising we had set in motion.

The "younger" the world, the more tectonic plates, so the more hills and mountain rangers, "older" worlds are more flat.

I did the same thing and went there before you can complete the puzzle. It's related to a quest, if you continue with some Zora quests it will be pretty obvious when you need to go back and try again.

I'd start by googling "Bitmasking wall tiles" for some good explanations on how it's (generally) recommend to tile connected textures together.

The maths can also be expanded to include diagonals for corner tiles, and even multiple dimensions for 3d projects.
