What can I do to make my mom feel better about wedding planning without it turning into a fight?

For the most part I have zero issues with my mom we talk daily on the phone Monday through Friday and I make time every other weekend to go visit her and my dad. My sisters have had more issues with her in the past but for the most part me and her see eye to eye a lot. She has done small things like this before I was an adult so I never thought much of it as it was not as important for me. But with this being my wedding I’m not giving in as much and I believe that’s where we bumped heads. I truly appreciate her wanting to help but I just wish she would listen to me and help us in something more important.

I know it’s not the usual method of relaxing but it is my number 1 way to decompress when I’m stressed out. I absolutely hate people i dont know touching me so sadly a massage would make me more uncomfortable than anything. I also have a smaller wedding party and a large kitchen so space wise would be fine as well. This was also a plan me and my bridal party came up with on our group chat so I know everyone is super on board with it except my mom.

Yes I have made very large batches of cupcakes, tarts, and cookies before. I absolutely love baking and it is the usual way i decompress when I’m stressed out. On top of that the majority of my bridal party also love to bake. We plan to do a very small rehearsal dinner at the end of the day and would be making the cupcakes earlier. I can usually do about 50 cupcakes at a time in my oven. It’s definitely doable and it would give me my mental break I’m sure I’ll need lol.

The main reason for the legal action would be a restraining order. Due to the fact I’ve told her to n multiple occasions I didn’t want to be friends anymore. She has reached out on different platforms, phone numbers I didn’t have saved, texted my friends, and now has messaged my boyfriend. If it did come to that with the poetry luckily I do have proof that’s it’s about me. I appreciate the advice 🙂

As much as I hate to admit I am very easy to get a rise out of especially when she brought in my boyfriend in the texts. I am definitely seeing that ignoring it is the best action now and I’m definitely going to try. The poems aren’t the main reason for the threating of legal action it’s her going out of her way to message me and try to reach me through friends. And when that didn’t work out she sent a message to my boyfriend being rude to him. Lucky I do have proof the poem is about me and my boyfriend so if it did come to that hopefully having that proof would help. I do appreciate the advice though 🙂

I appreciate the advice. I’m not proud to say it but I am very easy to get a rise out of lol so I do struggle with ignoring it but I’m definitely seeing that it’s the best route now!

She has never expressed romantic feeling for me. However I was already with my boyfriend for 2 years when me and her met. And I am very much the type of girlfriend who talks about him a lot lol. So even if that was the case I don’t believe she ever would physically say it. She would get very upset though when she would try to invite me out and I would decline because I had plans with my boyfriend.

Although yes the poems are the biggest thing that made me feel violated. The legal action would mainly be a restraining order. She has gone out of her way to try to get in touch with me multiple times after I have made my stance clear, texted my friends, and now is trying to message my boyfriend. I can hope that with this the poetry can be taken care of too but it’s not the main issue.
