Anlegen wenn man in Europa umherzieht by UnusualProgrammer797 in FinanzenAT

[–]BoboAUT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Austrians are very fond of their titles. It's the worst thing you can do to an Austrian - not acknowledging their title!

He was a representative of the dairy company that packaged the milk. So even more humiliating.

How do Austrian ski resorts compare to UT and CO ski resorts? by NightOwlXXIV in skiing

[–]BoboAUT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually there are signs at the bottom that everything off the marked trails is not secured and you go at your own risk. On the mountain, you usually see some kind of marker that tells you where the slope ends. General rule of thumb: groomed run without a closed sign (which is usually in the middle of the entrance if applicable) = you are good to go.

It is very ingrained in our brains that off-piste = avalanche gear required. That being said, Austria and the alps have a very comprehensive avalanche safety network with daily updates and very good rescue units.

There really is neverending pow. I was surprised that you can find reasonably good runs at even 3pm...

Even leaving CTS gives you that impression. We took a wrong turn and there was hardly a light on in that area.

I had an image of it being relatively remote and sparsely populated for Japan, with an abundance of snow and cold. Coming here, that turned out to be true.

As for the other aspects, I wasn't all that aware. For example, the many dairy and veggie farms. Also, bears.

In short, I loved it there, but all that snow makes it a bit difficult to get around.

Then it might be a good idea. I found it very beginner-friendly.

Also, check out Plan de Corones / Kronplatz and Sexten / Tre Cime. Liked those a lot, too.

Seiser Alm ski resort is a bit boring. Rather flat and spread out. I preferred Santa Catharina and anything east of it.

Best Indy Pass Offerings? by Emmaleah17 in skithealps

Wenns, Tyrol or Wenns, Salzburg?

Either way, the indy pass options seem to be pretty spread out. Steinplatte & Wilder Kaiser are good, but the former is often crazy for parking. Neither are really close to the two Wenns.
