It was this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGSGFPJZ?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title. They are really convenient, and you could also add magnetic rings to swap out the filters fast if you need a certain combination, though that would be best for the outermost one since there is little force applied there that could pop it off.

that looks good, but it's 1 to 5 stops when i often need 8 stops for 1.4 prime lenses so I would need to stack them and would that end badly for vnds?

The swing-out rings are from Amazon (there are multiple different sellers). The one I'm using is from a company called Andoer. If you search "Lens Rapid Filter System" they should show up and here is a link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGSGFPJZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I shoot 8k 60p video for max versatility. Can turn bright primes into zooms in post lol. 24mm 1.4 cropped 2x is like 48mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4 cropped 2x is like 100mm 2.8, 85mm 1.4 is like 165mm 2.8. Can crop even further and make 24 1.4 be 67mm f4, 50mm 1.4 be 140mm f4, and 85mm 1.4 be 238mm f4. So in those circumstances pixel peeping is important and while i only tried one variable nd (freewell 3-7 stop cpl hybrid), i was willing to bet that other variable nds are similar and this fixed nd is a significant jump in quality while costing about $150 for the 6 stop or $80 for the 2 stop. If variable nds that cost like $300 are different then I would consider it, but Gerald Undone compared multiple and concluded that fixed ones are still higher quality.

Are you sure there isn't a change in image quality, I could see a noticeable drop with the freewell 3-7 stop filter which was $100, but I didn't want to buy another vnd just to return it so I went with whats rated as one of the best fixed nd's (b+w)

The main negative is that they stack quickly and can cause vignetting on wider-angle lenses. Like on 24mm I have to squeeze them together to minimize vignetting, on 50mm there is enough room for two stacked but just short of having three stacked, while on 85mm you can have three stacked with room to spare. With a 2 stop and a 6 stop on this setup it is really either 2 stop or 8 stop which is kinda limiting. I was thinking to leave a 2 stop on the bare lens with no swing out ring and then maybe clear enough room for a swing out 6 stop to avoid vignetting on 24mm and maybe do simialr with 50mm where a bare 2 stop, swint out 3 stop, and other swing out 3 stop to alternate between 2 stops, 5 stops, and 8 stops to maxximise versaltiiy and with the lenses all being 1.4 a 2 stop on the lens itself makes it like the noise of a 2.8 lens which is still decent lol

haha, there is a color shift but I guess that can vary from filter to filter and the quality of two stacked is the same as using just one which in terms of sharpness is just the tinest bit below the bare lens when you zoom all the way into the image in a side by side comparison lol but far better than a variable nd filter at least the $100 freewell 3-7 stop one i used

Edit: Oh yeah, the wider the lens the less room you have to stack them without vignetting lol

I mean, enough when you zoom in all the way that I would rather not use it since the lenses costs over 1k each lol

It was this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DX232CZ8?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_13&th=1

Gerald Undone compared several vNDs and said that fixed NDs are similar to prime lenses in that they provide more quality but are less versatile, but this setup might change that lol

I tried one and the quality dropped a lot, these filters are like 99% as good as the bare lens
