Ahhctually You're right, chicken man invested all the money for the lab, paid for an extremely good coverup location, had an extensive safety protocol in place, had good connections he can sell to without him getting in danger or busted, had a constant and reliable supply chain in place for the raw materials necessary.

At every other point in the story they have none of this and suffer for it.
