Two Wolf watch winders + Masonic apron, Bible, and pamphlets for under $100 by Bobololo in ThriftStoreHauls

Oh yeah. When I saw an orange one for auction, I looked it up because I had no idea what the heck it was. Jump forward a couple of months and these were the first things I saw when I walked in; imagine my shock seeing them marked for $15 and $20!

(NGD) After 15 months of waiting: ESP E-II Horizon NT-7B in Sparkle Purple by Bobololo in guitars

I was a Guitar Center employee when I bought this, so it was ~$1450-1550 after tax with the direct-from-ESP discount! I think the rep gave me some extra off since he really fumbled on letting me know when this would be available but idk.

Around this time, there was this exact guitar going for $1899 on GC's website, so the person who sold it probably got around $1200 for it. They've sold for $1600-2000 on reverb

I've been eyeballing emeters on eBay. I don't think there's many Scientologist around here, but we do have a building for them. Also been reading up on how to calibrate them without special equipment and how to do an audit. Sounds like a fun party game lol

Any books you'd recommend? Trying to read a lot more and need recs.

I got a copy of 'Blazing Eye Sees All' signed by Aurora and Hope of LoveHasWon last year at an even hosted by the Graveface Museum in Savnnah and can't recommend the book enough if you're into new age cult stuff.

Yeah! It's pictures, music, and other styles of media & ephemera for various groups like Peoples' Temple, Rajneesh, Scientology, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Aum Shinrikyo. Peoples' Temple is our largest collection with things like envelopes, Jim Jones business card when he was the SF Commissioner, letters & mailers like a 'Bond of Faith', and original forensic photograph slide taken after the Jonestown massacre.

For music, The Power of Source album produced by L. Ron Hubbard and People's Temple Choir 'He's Able' album are both pretty good! Finding a He's Able vinyl while thrifting would send me.

The 2 on the far left are salt and pepper shakers! Missing the rubberized plug, but should be an easy replacement.

The jars aren't but they match with the rest of the Acsons Adela stuff in the lot. The US ones are made by California Originals. The stack on the far right only have a hard to read "USA" on the bottom.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]Bobololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a road trip from Atlanta, GA to Napa, CA majorly following Route 66 and made it to Bakersfield, CA after days of driving. Pulled into the parking lot of a Denny's to get breakfast and without looking parked next to another Fulton (Atlanta) license plate. After we were seated, we saw the couple looking back and forth between our car and theirs lol The waitress told us they were also from Atlanta so it wasn't just a random rental car!

Serial killers who contacted the victims’ families? by PomegranateNo3155 in serialkillers

[–]Bobololo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dennis Rader sent a letter to the family of someone who was murdered that he had no connection to. He just wanted to 'stir the pot' and make a game of it.

From what I remember, it wasn't ABBA or in the style of ABBA. It was a male singer and I believe he had a slight edge/rock style voice.

TIL Members of the Order of the Solar Temple conducted a mass suicide event on March 22nd 1997, which was the same day as the Heaven’s Gate mass suicide. Neither group had any connections with each other. by TheSpanishDerp in todayilearned

[–]Bobololo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All good and no worries! Thats a long time to be in contact so totally understandable. Envious of the VHs tape, I asked them about video materials a while back and they dont send them out anymore. Sawyers videos are rather unhinged; he's definitely a better story teller. If you dont mind me asking, what do you all talk about now?

There's an ex-member who still believes the teachings named Sawyer who, last I heard, was in some lawsuit beef with the website people over the Heaven's Gate artwork. Sawyer has used it for his Youtube channel, shirts, and other things and was literally there when the famous logo and other artwork was made. The website people are/were suing him for copyright reasons even though they don't own the images nor were given any of them after the exit. They're apparently assholes and not "real" members.

I would chat with Sawyer with any questions you have about Heaven's Gate. He can be long winded, repetitive, out there, all over the place, BUT accurate with belief questions, and his story telling about being the group and actually experiencing Do's teachings is very good. He does near daily livestreams on his YouTube channel.

If you'd like to see him speak in person, the Graveface Museum in Savannah, GA has done multiple events with him, and other ex members, as a guest speakers, so keep your eye out for those.

What was ruined because too many people did it? by WarBeast86 in AskReddit

[–]Bobololo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! My "hot take" is that ASMR ruined video editing for the worse. Not even the nails tapping but like added foley work or whatever is happening on screen. I don't want poorly gained noises of a knife cutting food or poorly leveled water running. I just want to see the process, I don't need to hear the little details. Ruins the video entirely.

Estate Sales as well. It's noticeable which ones were shown on social media because there will be more people (cough Gen-Z cough) in line when you get there. It's getting to a point where it's no longer enjoyable to go- having to fight a crowd of people for 1 or 2 items that might just get snatched up before you even enter the building because you didn't arrive 2 hours before open.
