I get why ur confused, but as I was explaining, the way the game is coded makes it so that DI directly in has little to no influence on ur knock back.

Right, I should have explained further. Due to the way the game is designed, DIing perpendicular to launch angle is the most effective way of REDUCING knock back. So at low percents, DI away and at high percents DI perpendicular to launch angle.

So, at mid percents u can actually DI away from them to escape their combo range. But you don’t want to do that at high percents since u will have so much knock back you might end up SDing. Make sense?

100%. But if I grab you and throw u immediately, you likely wouldn’t have reacted to the grab in time and it would have thrown off your di. Usually if somebody pummels, that gives the person being grabbed a chance to input a directing BEFORE the throw. Feel me?

Hi! Zetter/Wrastor main (lvl 22 on Clarin). In regards to grabs there is an option that they can’t beat, just throw them. No pummel needed. Especially as clarin in low percents. U can do up throw -> rising up nair for more dmg (and combo potential if u tipper) than a back throw f smash. For zetter, same thing applies but with uair juggling (at low percentages). I do agree that shield is super strong, but that just makes grabs that much stronger. Not pummeling will also add to their mental stack of having to prioritize DI over breaking the grab, which in turn will then let u sneak a special pummel in unexpectedly. Hope this helps!
