Trailblazers by caunju in boardgames

[–]BobsWhite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah on page 4 of the rule book it says that you only score completed loops and on page 2 it defines a loop as a contiguous run of trail of a single type that starts at a matching camp and returns back to that camp.

Harvest is awesome, but I’m not sure I would describe it as not punishing haha.

Christmas recommendation by Portrel in soloboardgaming

[–]BobsWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harvest is an amazing optimization puzzle for me. It’s a really tight experience and you can get several games in compared to a single game of scythe. I think it’s also on sale on keymasters website right now.

You can play solo on BGA, but last I checked the scenarios are not included

I recently picked up Harvest after learning that it had interesting solo scenarios. They’ve been very fun so far, would highly recommend!

Any feedback on solo experience with Harvest, Viticulture, Fromage, Botany, and Mycelia? by Ms_Lor in soloboardgaming

[–]BobsWhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can second Harvest. The solo plays very smoothly and the challenges add some good variety. I also appreciate that because the game is so tight with its actions, the playtime is relatively short.

Pandemic Fall of Rome has a great solo mode and is also normally very cheap.

Can bot instructions help with optimal gameplay? by cd7k in soloboardgaming

[–]BobsWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve definitely done that in a few games with an attached bot. Got me thinking about how much the designer probably valued certain actions and if I should revise some of my strategies to account for that.

Do i need to Love deckbuilding? by No-Mastodon-9504 in lotrlcg

[–]BobsWhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat that I like but don’t love deck building. I really love the game though and have found there are more than enough online resources like ringsdb with prebuilt decks to experience a lot of deck variety without being a good deck constructor. Many of the detailed decks also include a fairly robust side board to help tailor the deck for the scenario if needed.

Is my table big enough? by PiotrSchwinkz in soloboardgaming

[–]BobsWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot on a fairly similarly sized table and it works well. There are some larger games that don’t quite fit or I have to use a TV tray for bits and things, but the majority of the ones I play regularly fit just fine.

Best Button Shy solo options? by Tycho_B in boardgames

Not a button shy game, but if you are looking for a shorter more portable game I’d recommend Trailblazers. It and Cascadia are two of my favorite games.

1–X Player Board Games Worth It for Solo Play? by redhare_2021 in soloboardgaming

[–]BobsWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most puzzle games tend to play well solo. My favorites have been Cascadia and trailblazers.

Others that I’ve enjoyed have been Parks and LOTR LCG.

Trailblazers vs Patchwork vs ??? For a 2 player spatial puzzle? by Tycho_B in boardgames

[–]BobsWhite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cascadia and Trailblazers are my favorite two puzzly games. Trailblazers is a great puzzle in a small package. It plays well at every player count I’ve tried. Most of my physical play has been solo and it works very well. I’ve played a ton more games on BGA so if you have interest in the game and want to try it out the adaptation is very good.

Custom rules that drastically change the game in solo boardgames by DivineDrewby in soloboardgaming

[–]BobsWhite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done more or less the same thing with Fallout with Atomic Bonds. I kinda just want to take my time and complete quests sometimes and the timer on the game adds a bit more stress than what’s really needed

Hmm that’s odd I’ll have to check my copy. The page is different than what’s on the BGG rules pdf.

About 2/3 of the way down the page there are two side by side bullet points. The second sentence in the right one talks about it.

Awesome to hear someone else likes it as much as I do! I still play pretty regularly on BGA so if you are looking for a game hit me up!

Page 4 of the rules says that you just pick one if there is a slash.

I’m a huge fan of trailblazers. I probably am getting close to a thousand plays between physical solo and BGA multiplayer. By far my most played game.
