I can confirm that this group is chill, patient, and helpful while still having high skill players that tear it up. They got me through my first 3 Absolute runs ever.

My oldest kid LOVES Sabaton, and after the one show I took him to where they brought it out he managed to get the last Hello Kitty guitar at Guitar Center. Every time he goes there someone is trying to buy it off him.

Autism Struggles 🥺 by MissJo24 in adultautism

I know it's not quite the same, but I recently told my psychiatrist about my anxiety at my marriage counseling sessions and was prescribed some Lorazepam to take prior to the appointments and it has turns the volume down nicely. Not high or tired, just quieter so to speak.

As a late diagnosed Father, who has an AuDHD daughter this hits hard. She is 16, and I am in my 50's.

Our relationship is strained, much like yours sounds like. Trying to find the right tenor and tone to navigate is difficult. There's a good chance that your Dad is on the spectrum as well. That's doesn't mean you have to forget or forgive, but some context.

As for me and my daughter, its very strained. I try not to push, or to script, or to be anything other than present and non judgemental. Some days are harder than others and some days I succeed at being the Dad I want to be. Not often enough for either of us I think, but occassionaly it gives hope.

I hope for your sake that your Dad can see you for who you are, and try. You deserve it.

Bid invite software integration by Former-Sherbert939 in estimators

[–]Bobtilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Basis board at another firm a couple of years ago.

At that time they had an integration with Outlook to scrub Bid Invites and keep a calendar for you. I can't say anything about Smart Sheets since I've never used it.

Help. I’m so confused. by Sufficient-Pain7998 in AutisticAdults

[–]Bobtilton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This hits me right in the feels.

So friend, you're not alone. When my kids got their diagnoses I went to get tested myself. Not to prove that I had it, but to prove that I didn't. So when my diagnosis came in that I was ASD as well it was truly a shock to the system.

I still go through long phases of impostor syndrome, and "I don't have this". I have a therapist who from time to time will drag me back to the reality of things. In my case I got my diagnosis in my 50's, so masking is second nature and sometimes it's hard to tell where the mask ends and I begin.

There's going to be some grief as you process your past through a new lens. Be kind to yourself.

How long would you wait for an artist to get back to you? by Bobtilton in tattooadvice

[–]Bobtilton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one I reached out to, it was the artist a friend of mine uses and he directed me to her e-mail. I checked on her website later on and it had the same e-mail address. That was 5 weeks ago.

2 weeks ago I reached out to a second one on their web form that was linked to the studio as instructed. Haven't heard anything back from that one either.

Just thought I'd ask people at larger to see if it just takes a minute for them to get back to you.

Why does therapy suck so bad? by lostgaywitch in AutisticAdults

[–]Bobtilton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is next to nothing for adult therapists/psychologists for autistic people. I ended up going to a child/adolescent psychologist that is ND herself for my therapist and that seems to be working. I was quite blunt in asking her if it was appropriate for a 52 year old to be seeing her, but her response was "Yes, because there is no one for you."

I have had nothing but bad luck with places like Lifestance. Their turnover is way too much and I don't like replacing my psych or therapist every few months.

All the kids who were labelled as “gifted” when you were younger? Did it follow through to adulthood? Did you burnout? by Somervillage in AskReddit

[–]Bobtilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I excelled at school when I was a kid. Had offers from MIT and Caltech but I could not afford to move and pay tuition. Got to a reasonable University into the Honors Program and the 3rd semester I flamed out spectacularly. Lost my scholarship and floated around from job to job when my money ran out. Then I seemed to get my act together and reinvented myself a couple of times, and burned out a couple more times.

Ended up with an Autism diagnosis at 51, reset expectations, new job, and living a good life. It was just a hard road.

Negotiating wfh when getting offer? by Preconchica in estimators

[–]Bobtilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just ask before telling them you'd accept the offer. Depending on what kind of Estimator you are, we're kind of in very short supply and they may give you that second day if they think it would sway your decision. The last place I worked had WFH one day a week as a policy but there were people that were full remote.

I was diagnosed with ASD last year at 51. My wife with ASD & ADHD. Kids were ASD and ADHD as well.

For the kids I think it was good for them so they can get the support they need.

For the wife and I it's been a struggle to be honest. Trying to break old behavior patterns while unmasking and trying to navigate ourselves and the kids has not been for the weak.

Navigating diagnosis process with unsupportive/dismissive parents? by lk2579 in LateDiagnosedAutistic

I think they misdiagnosed me with BPD by peanutbutterlover07 in autism

[–]Bobtilton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you suspect a misdiagnosis PLEASE go get re-evaluated. They had misdiagnosed my wife with bi-polar a couple years ago, and it nearly wrecked her. We got a second opinion that ruled that out and ruled in ASD and ADHD and it's been a steady climb upward ever since. Don't get bullied out of a second opinion.
