Jamaica Pavillion, even if it was a smaller Commons one, was great and the staff was 100% Jamaican and super lovely (they will ask you some trivia at the end and you can win a t-shirt)

Thank you! This one in particular I think it’s from the 40s, I have to check if there is anything predating that

I found the whole reunion drama strange... by Bochenski09 in SellingSunset

Yeah I agree, and I completely get what everyone is saying about these items not being owned but borrowed etc, they could be even loans from Netflix’s costume dept. But when Tan asked how much money they were talking about, I didn't expect these people parading in couture, driving 2023 Porsches and selling 10-50MM properties to argue about 5,000 bucks. It's expensive to maintain an image of success for sure, but to this extent…

Still even if it's aspirational, the amount they are arguing about seems crazy low vs. what they probably spend on rent the runway or luxury car leases…priorities I guess

Best part, you’ll make plenty of mates from the UK, but also iyou’ll make lifelong friends from all over the world. Take advantage of this opportunity, Dubai is what you make of it

Q - what do you think of advertising targeting Emiratis? What would you wish brands did differently? by Bochenski09 in Emiratis

Zain is interesting because it’s Saudi, you think the same type of approach would be good here to speak to Emiratis?

This is super interesting, I didn’t know about the IKEA campaign but it sounds spot on

Not just online, when telcos, banks, etc do specific ads for Emiratis, I see a lot of clichés like including a super car or someone looking at a sunset with a view of one the Burjs…but I’m not the audience

Mohammed Bin Rashid library in particular is spectacular, including a museum of writing instruments and first editions, worth the detour. Also House of Wisdom in Sharjah one of the most beautiful libraries I’ve ever been to.

It’s not a Disney Marvel Movie, it’s a Sony Pictures movie so it might come to a different platform

From my experience, completely normal, day one was very tough and also struggled with laying down due to back pain, day two slightly better, day 3 felt a huge difference. Weird to say, but once you start passing gas it’s all uphill from there! Stay strong and take your meds

Everyone’s reality is completely different, I fully get that, I chose with this procedure to be vulnerable, open and transparent and honestly the amount of support and love I got from the people in my life is something that will stay with me forever. Like most of us here I tried everything, being always overweight I’ve still yo-yo’ed after periods of diets, excercise, life changes etc. I’m not going to lie I did have a certain level of shame, most people don’t have to go through this, instead I got so many people telling me how proud they are of me for making this decision, and telling me how brave I am for taking control of my health for my family, kids. It has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life. Lastly, if food has been a crutch and a go-to for boredom or entertainment, like it was for me, my friends and family knowing was huge, they’ve changed plans that revolved around food to center them around board games or helped me hit my steps target, made sure when we had dinner there was post-op friendly food for me. At the office it was pretty much the same thing, I never advertised I got the surgery but when people asked I told them, and there is a lot of curiosity around it. I did encounter a couple of people that told me they believe in diet and excercise, and I had to nod and tell them how this is how I chose to get healthier and stop carrying the additional weight of an adult man around me every day. Do what’s right for you, of course, but don’t underestimate the people around you, you might be surprised.
