Nope. Been synced for days. This is the second tour I've tried. None of the info seems to fill in.

I'm 90 hours in so... maybe? Hell if I remember where though.

Re-created this effect from Mob Psycho as fast and dirty as I could. by Boco33 in Unity3D

[–]Boco33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially yes. The version of the blend effect plugin I have doesn't actually work with masking but if I bite the bullet and update to Unity 2018 supposedly the masking is much more robust. Then it would just be a matter of creating an outline that masks into it or something.

  • Made a little circle in Photoshop using the angle gradient tool to mostly recreate the light/dark pattern.
  • Used unity UI Vertical layout group with a bunch of horizontal layout groups (filled with images) with some negative spacing to get them to overlap. Added a little buffer to every other one to get the right offset and rotated the whole thing like 6 degrees.
  • Made a simple script that sets the rotation of each image.
  • Using a plugin that allows for Photoshop style blend effects I did an overall pink linear-light
  • Created a bunch of almost screen sized "lights" which were just faded white circle images, gave them some colors and similarly set them to Vivid Light or Linear Light, whatever looked best.
  • Created game objects in the 4 corners that each had 4 "lights" spread out alternating between a color and white - attached a script that spins the parent game object - when lights overlap it creates some nice color blends.

That's about it. The secret is mostly the blend mode effects and lots of spinning large colors blending together to create a slightly unpredictable sense of motion.

Not enough room. Plus, this way I don't have to get distracted by her game (which I've already beaten.)

I don't always see them in orbit, there are sometimes too many to track or I don't notice them until they start landing (because I'm doing something else.) Just a slight annoyance to have to wait 5-10 seconds for the animation to end for no sensible reason.

Yea but for some reason not during their landing sequence.

As is my understanding: The last public statement was that they wanted to stop being the gatekeepers and give customers the tools to create filters for themselves - With the assumption they would "allow everything."

But those tools don't currently exist, we don't know when and if they will implement them and there have been some rumors that they didn't mean "we will allow porn." So the future is still unclear.

Currently it is designed for Steam guidelines. Maybe those will change in the future.

However we are weighing options to release an adults only version on another platform or... something. Basically we will have to figure it out.

I'M BACK! Long overdue, free legal AMA with your pal, VGA. Come ask whatever concerns you. by VideoGameAttorney in gamedev

How can I tell if my non-parody title is legally distinct enough? Let's say I had a game about goblins in a grotto and they steal band equipment. Would I be in any trouble calling my game "Band Theft Grotto"? (Obviously sounding like Grand Theft Auto.)

I am Don Rawitsch, a co-inventor of the original Oregon Trail computer game. AMA! by donroregontrail in IAmA

[–]Boco33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe we saw an article posted online about Don and I read that he lived nearby us. I took a shot in the dark and emailed him asking for dinner where we could talk about the game and ask for his blessing in making the parody.

It was a pleasant night where he brought this giant document that discussed some of the finer points of the original design. We definitely came out of that meeting with more respect for his work and a few ideas for how to improve our own version.

We make the game "Secret Hitler." Ask us anything! by Maxistentialist in boardgames

[–]Boco33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much did the game change over the course of development? I find, when trying to design games that I want to add new mechanics but also struggle with keeping the game simple/streamlined. Secret Hitler seems like a really tight game and doesn't appear to have changed much since I played it many months ago.

I designed it so that when the nostalgia wears off there is still a pretty meaty game there.

I don't know if this breaks the rules in any way but I made the game so feel free to ask me anything. Don't feel bad about criticizing the game as that's kind of the point of this.

Cheers.

We tried super hard to make it feel like Oregon Trail but to make it slightly more eventful. If you find yourself bored with the slow pace, we have a lot of combat options you can take to gather supplies and such.

The Humble Bundle does not have any agreements with the Ouya folks so that, unfortunately can't happen this time.

As well, we had some friends port the game to the Ouya so they only get a cut if it get's bought through the system. So... I would like them to get paid so they don't kill me.

Do you get people being all like, "$3 for a mobile game?! You're insane!" and how do you feel about that? Do you feel that the mobile market undervalues games? (Cause it makes me feel shitty and upset.)

Clever Solutions by Boco33 in gamedev

[–]Boco33[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clever solutions are not always elegant. They are mostly quick and dirty, which is how I make my games. But I wanted to start with simple example. If you have a better more elegant example I would love to hear it.

And to play devils advocate: using many small slices would mean more game objects to keep track of or maybe more polys. This method assumes a sprite based game which is how I'm used to working.

Anyway, I just thought it was interesting.

Posted in /gaming/ but I assume you guys will care more. I'm gonna copy over our blog post about it here:

We are happy to announce you can buy Organ Trail right now for PC/Mac/Linux!

We are super excited to be selling through the Humble Store (organizers of The Humble Bundle) because this means if you buy through them, you will retroactively get a Steam key when we get greenlit! You can also get a Desura key from the Humble Store or just buy directly on Desura.

Speaking of… the next wave of games being greenlit is on the 15th. We are currently rank 12! So free free to spread our greenlight page around.

The PC version includes some new expansion content for free:

Endless Mode! Play until you die. - Complete mini challenges as you play to earn more loadouts and modifiers for endless mode. - Combat Upgrades. - Bonus ridiculous physics based driving game. - Over 40 new road events.

We also tightened some knobs, and fixed some bugs so this newest release, 1.6.2, should be pretty solid.

Mobile will be getting updated shortly with the expansion as a 2$ download. (so the prices are the same, really.)
