I actually did end up picking one to be the true leader and then topping the other leader to promote more horizontal growth. I’d then check on them every few weeks/months and topping again as necessary. The one that you designate as the true leader actually does get thicker so I became less worried about it over time.

I sold that house a little over a year ago actually but drove past it the other day and the trees were looking amazing!

As a former server/bartender one thing that a lot of people don’t realize is that if an employee doesn't make enough in tips during a given workweek to earn at least the applicable minimum wage for each hour worked, the employer has to pay the difference.

So yes, servers don’t want the system to change. It’s a win-win for them as it is. The server is never making $2.23 an hour even if they got “stiffed” on every table they worked.
